Project Officer – Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding

Job Overview
Mada Association is seeking a Project Officer to support the day-to-day implementation of activities, logistics, and community mobilization under a project that aims to increase the individual and collective capacities and participation of Youth-Led Civil Society Organizations and Groups in conflict prevention and resolutions initiatives to foster inter and intra-communal peace in Greater Beirut and Tripoli, Lebanon.
The Project Officer will contribute to the planning and implementation of Mada’s project’s activities on the field, closely working with the project team, partner organizations and local stakeholders, and ensuring accountability to Mada Association’s policies and donor rules and regulations. Moreover, the Project Officer will support the Project Manager with the management of the project in terms of planning, reporting, data collection and analyses, coordination and organization.
The Project Officer will report directly to the Project Manager and will be based in Mada’s Beirut office. As the project covers both Greater Beirut and Tripoli, the role requires regular travel to Tripoli and throughout Greater Beirut for conducting assessments, meetings, and project visits, with frequent travel between the two areas as part of the responsibilities.
The main activities the Project Officer will support include:
- Conducting validation and capacity assessment of youth-led civil society organizations and networks.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of a capacity building plan for youth-led civil society organizations and networks.
- Supporting youth-led civil society organizations and networks to implement peacebuilding initiatives
- Assisting youth-led groups to implement peacebuilding actions
- Organizing cross- regional events among CSOs and youth groups to share learnings/exchange on their initiatives and actions.
Responsibilities and tasks
Project Execution, Monitoring, and Quality
o Support the Project Manager and the project team in planning and implementing the project activities with focus on quality, ensuring that activities proceed in accordance with the project document and logical framework.
o Support the implementation of daily project activities ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
o Mobilize local communities and youth groups to actively participate in project activities.
o Conduct validation and capacity assessments of youth-led civil society organizations and networks.
o Conduct field visits to monitor and assist in the implementation of daily project activities, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
o Ensure that activities comply with agreed objectives, policies and established SOPs and guidelines.
o Monitor, evaluate and suggest changes and improvements based on observations and discussions with beneficiaries, partners and the Project Manager.
o Promptly report to the Project Manager any challenge hindering the implementation of the activities
o Support the Project Manager and MEAL team in relevant MEAL activities required at field and office level.
o Support data collection, field assessments, analysis, and documentation of project activities and outcomes
o Participate in internal and external coordination meetings for the purpose of the project, as needed.
o Support the Project Manager to ensure compliance with donor and Mada’s regulations for procurements, purchases, etc.
o Ensure timely and effective communication among project stakeholders.
o Support the collection of data for project monitoring and evaluation purposes.
o Provide logistical support to the project team, including scheduling meetings, planning for events, coordinating with beneficiaries and stakeholders, organizing events, and assisting with procurement and documentation.
o Maintain accurate records and databases for project beneficiaries and activities.
o Develop and maintain positive and fruitful relationships with relevant stakeholders including partners, Civil Society Organizations, etc.
o Assist in any other tasks, as requested by the Project Manager.
Reporting and Communication
o Ensure regular and accurate reporting on a weekly/monthly basis to the Project Manager and contribute to the ad hoc reports to meet partner and donor requirements.
o Share all the information required to prepare the necessary reports to the Project Manager.
o Ensure that data and documentation of all activities are properly collected and archived
o Facilitate and support the collection and preparation of communication and visual material in line with the visibility guidelines of the organization and the donors.
Knowledge and Skills
o Full adherence to Mada’s mission and vision, as well as Ethics Code.
o Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Social work, Sociology, Human rights, International Relations, Development Studies, Political Science, Peacebuilding, or a related field.
o At least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably within the NGO sector.
o Previous experience working on peacebuilding, conflict resolution, or youth empowerment projects is highly desirable.
o Experience in community mobilization, capacity building, and working with civil society organizations is an advantage.
o Experience in conducting assessments, validation exercises, and in MEAL is highly desirable.
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including youth groups, CSOs, and local authorities.
o Willingness to travel frequently between Beirut and Tripoli
o Fluent in English and Arabic; French is a plus.
o Strong excel skills required.
o Previous experience working in Beirut and Tripoli is highly desirable.
o Computer literate.
