Duties and responsibilities

  • Receive high-risk child protection referrals for children in need of protection case management. Priorities intervention according to risk level.
  • Ensure that informed consent/assent taken before opening a case
  • Ensure that children and caregivers registered in focused PSS activities and PFA activities  without creating stigma and/or judgement
  • Ensure the child is involved and participates in the establishment of the case plan
  • Ensure the utmost confidentiality of case management data and information throughout the case management process; including protection referrals
  • Ensure close coordination with PSS teams in order to ensure children and their caregivers are referred from case management to focused and vice-versa
  • Assess received cases and take immediate action to address urgent situations
  • Provide age-appropriate counseling and qualitative psychosocial support to children and their families throughout the case management process
  • Store and file CP data ensuring the confidentiality of the information collected and the services provided according to the minimum standard
  • Flag all high risk cases in which judicial intervention is required to the Officer and ensure they are referred immediately to UPEL
  • Produce case reports of quality submitted to the Officer for case conferences and/or to provide recommendations, especially on alternative care options to UPEL for complex cases in need of judicial intervention.
  • Receive referrals from different agencies, do action plan and appropriate response to each case
  • Raise gaps in CP response services and referral protocols to the Officer
  • Adhere to the principles and guidance of the National CP Case Management SOPs, including mandatory reporting requirements
  • Identify safe spaces to provide Focused PSS (FPSS) that adhere to the quality checklists for center-based and outreach activities shared at the inter-agency level
  • Deliver Focused PSS in line with global and national inter-agency SOPs/standards
  • Create a safe space where participants can voice their opinions, thoughts and emotions, share experiences and brainstorm on solutions in a confidential and respectful manner
  • Actively identify the most vulnerable: children at high risk and their caregivers and ensure their enrollment in focused PSS programs
  • Adapt the location and timing of sessions, content and approach of the focused PSS program to the needs and availability of the participants including children with special needs

Qualifications

  • Worked in  humanitarian settings, specifically in Child Protection /PFA
  •  Completed training on National CP Case Management SOPs/ already implemented national SoP and familiar with its tool.
  • Excellent knowledge of Child Protection and GBV minimum standards and basic principles
  •  Excellent knowledge of psychosocial support basic principles and PSS key messages to vulnerable children and caregivers
  • Excellent knowledge of child and adult development and learning
  • Excellent knowledge of basic facilitation skills
  • Excellent knowledge of safe identification and referral principles
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility
  • Good knowledge of Child Protection case management
  •  Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings
  •  Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of client at all times
  •  Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
