I. INTRODUCTION

NGO's Background Information

The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014. LRI started as a project launched in 2010 by the United States Forest Service (USFS) Office of International Programs (IP) through the support and funding of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). LRI's mission is to restore Lebanon's native forests and to instill commitment to reforestation and wildfire prevention and response, through capacity building of local communities and organizations.

II. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Akkar Project Cluster Field Officer at the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is responsible for the field follow up of the Agroforestry for Food Security project in Akkar. S/he applies Akkar Project Cluster Field Officer principles and procedures, provides accurate and timely information to LRI’s Sustainable Landscape Management Specialist and LRI Project Director, and ensures Akkar Project Cluster Field Officer procedures.

In close coordination with LRI’s Sustainable Landscape Management Specialist, the Akkar Project Cluster Field Officer is expected to accomplish the following duties:

  • Coordinate with the Agroforestry experts at LRI to ensure a proper implementation of the field work.
  • Collect field technical information and conduct needed surveys.
  • Follow up with local partners teams on all aspects of the project implementation.
  • Identify the stakeholders and assess level of influence and involvement of each.
  • Prepare MOUs, progress report and other paperwork.
  • Communicate with the municipalities and local authorities or other public administrative organizations.
  • Follow up on the work plan implementation and report progress to the project coordinator.
  • Maintain workers database including updated workers monitoring sheet and document workers record.
  • Issue workers payrolls and follow up on payment procedures.
  • Assist the Team Coordinator in tracking the project weekly and ensure proper communication of tasks to the cluster officers.
  • Assist in the logistics of events, meetings, or training.

III. REQUIREMENTS

The Akkar Project Cluster Field Officer should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in agriculture field work.
  • Experience in working with Lebanese communities is a plus.
  • Medium knowledge in agriculture and forestry fields.
  • Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent reporting and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel from and to Beirut.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic.
