About Lebanon Humanitarian & Development NGOs Forum (LHDF)

The Lebanon Humanitarian and Development NGOs Forum (LHDF) is an independent entity, composed of local NGOs operating in Lebanon, that facilitates the coordination between them and other relevant stakeholders to have an efficient response to the humanitarian and development needs in the country.

 

One of the Forum’s mandates is to represent local and national NGO interests, develop advocacy papers and policy briefs on behalf of the Forum members while pushing the localization agenda forward. Accordingly, the Forum is currently seeking to contract a Facilitator to moderate its Webinar “Localization in Practice: Successes and Best Practices” which will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021.

 

OBJECTIVES 

  • Assist the LHDF Steering Committee and Secretariat in the planning and preparations ahead of the Webinar.
  • Moderate the Webinar and keep track of the timing and flow of the discussion..
  • Produce a Briefing Paper as an outcome of the discussion.

WEBINAR TOPICS

 

  1. Localization, CASH and Beyond
  2. Localization, Access, and the Preservation of Civic Space
  3. Local NGOs Shaping and Upholding Humanitarian Principles
  4. Community-Based Mechanisms and Accountability to the Affected Populations
  5. Local and National NGOs Gaining Regional Momentum

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES 

  • Assist the LHDF Steering Committee and Secretariat in the planning and preparations ahead of the Webinar.

Deliverable: Refine the meeting agenda and topics of discussion while advising on key speakers for each session.  

 

  • Moderate the Webinar and keep track of the timing and flow of the discussion.

Deliverable: Prepare Introductory Remarks rooted in an academic and practical understanding of the Grand Bargain, Localization, and the Localization agenda in Lebanon, moderate the sessions while ensuring good time management, and prepare closing remarks based on the outcomes of the discussion.

 

  • Produce a Briefing Paper as an outcome of the discussion.

Deliverable: Briefing Paper summarizing the outcomes of the discussion and providing recommendations on moving the Localization agenda forward, to be submitted by Thursday, July 29.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Political Science, Development Studies, Social Studies, Public Policy/Administration, or any other related field,
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in policy analysis, advocacy strategy, and research,
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of the Grand Bargain, Localization, Accountability to Affected Populations and the NGO field in Lebanon.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English, both written and spoken, knowledge in French is a plus.
  • Previous experience working with national NGOs.
  • Excellent writing skills.

 

CONTRACTUAL TERMS

  • Comply with and adhere to Lebanon Support (LS)S & LHDF policies, guidance, and procedures.
  • Duration of the contract: July 19, 2021 to July 31, 2021.
