Main Role
The Social Worker will be conducting needs assessment with the support of the community volunteers. He/she will train community volunteers in the defined village(s) to jointly implement the community plan of action.
Main operational duties and tasks:
1- Direct project implementation
- Introduce the project for local authorities in the targeted area and build up the local support committee.
- Plan and coordinate activities with local NGOs, schools and institutions.
- Recruit, manage and train community volunteers.
- Facilitate needs assessment with support of the community volunteers network in each community.
- Identify the needs of each community with the community volunteers to elaborate and implement the community plan of action.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of the project implementation and analyse information extracted from the needs assessment, plan of action and implementation of activities.
- Prepare and organize activities pertaining to the project.
- Negotiate the type and costs of activities to be executed.
- Hold monthly meetings with the local support committee, and when needed.
2- Volunteers management
- Supervise the volunteers’ performance during the project implementation.
- Follow up with the focal point of community volunteers.
- Hold weekly meetings with the volunteers to share updates and progress of the project implementation
- Develop and maintain a community volunteers’ database.
- Recruit and retain community volunteer throughout the project.
3 – Reporting
- Follow up on the reports sent by the community volunteers for each implemented activity.
- Write monthly narrative and statistical reports (final and progress) to be submitted to the Project Coordinator
- Update weekly the Project Coordinator on the project outcomes.
Function Specific Experience
- Experience in reporting
- Experience in training and coaching
- Experience working in a group
- Experience in community work is preferable
Industry Related Experience
- Experience in similar volunteer-based organizations or humanitarian organizations
