Main Role

The “Environmental” WASH HQ Officer is responsible with the support of the Senior Environmental WASH officer to effectively ensure the integration of the green response activities within LRC DMS and to initiate and implement of the environmental technologies related mainly to Solid Waste and Blackwater Management.  The “Environmental” WASH officer on HQ level is also responsible of liaising with the WASH Officers/Focal Persons/Volunteers in order to successfully respond to the Syrian Refugee Crisis and vulnerable Lebanese Host Communities.

 

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Support in the set up and the follow up on the implementation of the theory of change of the green response project in the LRC DMS in accordance to the context evolution and the needs on the field at the DMS centers level with the support of the Senior Environmental WASH officer under the supervision of the LRC WASH Manager and with the collaboration of the WASH hard and Soft Officers.
  2. Support in the assessment of the environmental practices and projects  at communities’ level
  3. Support in the assessment and identification of eco-friendly technologies mainly related to Solid waste and Black water management that fit within the local context and standards.
  4. Support in defining and evaluating  different sites to implement the ecological responses/trials
  5. Ensure the quality of the project at the centers level
  6. Support in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the program to determine more areas for improvement and best practices
  7. Support in maintaining effective and efficient oversight, support, quality control and reporting systems and processes
    • Ensure updated project documents, for quality and timely implementation of project
    • Ensure regular field monitoring and modifications as required
    • Maintain database/archive/records of reports and project documents
    • Adhere to reporting guidelines for field trips, trainings etc.
  8. Support in providing direction and monitoring field staff/volunteers in their implementation of the work plan and quality of technical activities
  9. Facilitate requirements and make recommendation for planned activities
  10. Ensure that gender, protection, the environment, and other important cross- cutting concerns are taken into account in program design, implementation, and reporting; ensure that activities reflect the needs of specific groups and individuals e.g. elderly people, children, and people with disabilities

 

Operational/Technical Roles and Responsibilities

  1. To contribute to tool development, planning sessions, and attend coordination meetings as requested by the WASH Manager
  2. To support capacity building for LRC DMS team and communities through identification, and training of LRC volunteers and other relevant WASH staff at the branch level
  3. To be responsible for advising, assessing, planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting on Ecological Solid Waste and Black Water Management activities with the LRC WASH team under the supervision of the LRC WASH PM.
  4. To support the procurement of materials to implement sustainable solution according to LRC policies and procedures
  5. To support technically the design and implementation of “the different sustainable solutions implemented as per set timetable and budget.
  6. Support in creating channels for dialogue between the Ecological Solid Waste and Black Water Management response which is part of the global WASH response and the affected population, to ensure appropriate technical interventions
  7. To help in preparing internal monthly report and external reports for LRC WASH PM on the implemented activities
  8. To work in close collaboration with the LRC WASH PM, LRC WASH officers, in developing ideas and documents for new projects or interventions needed.
  9. To coordinate closely with the LRC DMS “Hard” Wash and “Soft WASH” Officer on all relevant issues in order to ensure a successful and complete WASH program implementation on all levels.

Function Specific Experience

  • Experience in Project Management
  • Experience in designing and delivering trainings
  • Sectorial experience in e.g. environmental activities, community-based approach, Integration of environmental procedures
  • Previous experience as an LRC volunteer is an asset

Industry Related Experience

  • Previous experience in working with NGOs/Public Sector
  • Previous experience in Environmental projects design and studies
