Organizational Assessment and Development of a Capacity Strengthening Plan

Duties and Responsibilities

The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Organizational Capacity Assessment:
    • Conduct a thorough assessment of each department within Al Majmoua, focusing on areas such as management, strategic planning, financial sustainability, operational processes, human resources, program delivery, monitoring and evaluation, internal and external communication, etc.
    • Utilize appropriate assessment tools and methodologies to gather qualitative and quantitative data on the current capacity and performance of each department.
  2. Identification of Priority Areas for Improvement:
    • Analyze the data collected during the assessment to identify key areas where capacity strengthening is needed
    • Engage with department heads and senior management to validate findings and gather additional insights.
  3. Development of a Prioritized Capacity Strengthening Plan:
    • Based on the assessment and feedback, develop a detailed plan that prioritizes capacity strengthening activities to be delivered under the RDPP funded DAEM project
    • Ensure that the proposed activities align with the organization’s strategy and the objectives of the DAEM project and are feasible within the project’s timeline and budget.
  4. Presentation of Findings and Recommendations:
    • Present the assessment findings and the prioritized capacity strengthening plan to Al Majmoua’s senior management and relevant stakeholders.
    • Revise the plan based on feedback received from the presentation

Deliverables

The consultant is expected to deliver the following:

  1. Inception Report outlining the assessment methodology, tools, and work plan.
  2. Assessment Report detailing the findings from the organizational capacity assessment.
  3. Prioritized Capacity Strengthening Plan including specific activities, timelines, and resource requirements.
  4. Final Presentation summarizing the key findings and recommendations, to be delivered to Al Majmoua’s senior management and other stakeholders.

Duration of the Assignment

The assignment is expected to be completed within 12 weeks from the date of contract expected to be signed early October 2024. A detailed timeline will be agreed upon in collaboration with the consultant during the first week following the signature of the consultancy agreement.

Qualifications and Experience

The consultant should have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Proven experience in conducting organizational capacity assessments and developing capacity-building plans for NGOs
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Reporting and Supervision

The consultant will report directly to Al Majmoua’s Partnership Manager and regular updates and progress reports will be required throughout the duration of the consultancy.
