Since 2016 KfW Development Bank has been running a management unit (‘KfW Office’) in Beirut which is staffed with international and national specialists of various fields of expertise, in order to foster KfW’s activities on behalf of the German Government in Lebanon and Syria, in the fields of education, local economic development and water/sanitation.
In this context, KfW is mandated to work closely with several United Nations organizations as well as with INGOs. Cooperation and coordination is furthermore taking place with the relevant Lebanese Ministries.
An expert in the Education sector in Lebanon, and for coordination of projects implemented in Syria shall further strengthen this team.
The expert shall have a multi-year track record in the field of development cooperation projects, particularly focused on economic and social development, and education in fragile environments. Working experience with/inside Lebanon and Syria is required.
Required Expertise of the Expert
Higher Education Degree in Economics, Development Studies, Political Sciences, Engineering
At least 10 years graduated
At least 5 years working experience in development cooperation
Regional working expertise in the MENA region is mandatory; experience in Lebanon and/or Syria considered an asset
Both English and Arabic languages fluent; European Reference Framework C1
German language is considered an important asset.
