Background and Objectives of the consultancy
JIBAL is a not-for-profit association that champions environmental and social justice principles. We envision a society centered on principles of reciprocity, recognition, and equitable redistribution. The work intertwines socio-cultural and ecological perspectives to promote a holistic approach to societal development. JIBAL promotes sustainability in all its aspects – in the built and natural environments, in human societies, and in economic and social policies – by developing and implementing different activities such as workshops, training, and applied research projects. JIBAL receives mainly its funding from international donors.
Jibal started in January 2021, in collaboration with the Helvetas, a 1-year project aimed at promoting food sovereignty and increased food security in Lebanon. The project aims at:
- Supporting the transition towards a circular economy, local and sustainable agriculture, of farmers within a short distance from Beirut (neighbouring Mount-Lebanon and Bekaa).
- Initiating a process of direct and affordable sales from these farmers to the inhabitants of vulnerable urban neighbourhoods within the radius of Beirut blast.
Within the scope of the project, a research study has been conducted on the role of intermediaries in the food supply chain highlighting the unfair system at the wholesale market and lack of policies that govern this trade.
Scope of Work
- Produce an animated video up to 1 min based on a research paper on intermediaries in the food supply chain.
- Meet with the Jibal team and get cleared on the messages to be communicated.
- Review the script prepared by the Jibal team and advice as necessary.
- Share an initial version of the video with the team and amend based on their feedback.
Deliverables
- 1 minute video in Arabic with English subtitles.
Required qualifications of collaborator
- Three years of experience in 2D animation on similar explanatory infographic videos
- Proven technical and creative skills
- Must be willing to go through multiple rounds of feedback as necessary
- Must be willing to collaborate with Jibal team member on creation of final product
