Under the direction and supervision of the Education Coordinator, the Education Officer is responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe environment that meets the approved curriculum and mission of JRS.

Main Responsibilities of the Position:

1. Capacity Building and Training of JRS Staff

  • Guide and support tutors on teaching technical skills and classroom management.
  • Enhance staff knowledge through training on educational principles and practices.
  • Conduct staff training sessions in cooperation with the Education Coordinator on technical aspects of education.
  • Foster a supportive work environment for tutors, the Education Assistant, and support staff.

2. Educational Development

  • Maintain effective educational programs and promote teaching and learning improvements.
  • Manage the education centre’s teaching program and engaging staff.
  • Oversee and participate registration process.
  •  Ensure high-quality teaching standards.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and developmental plans with the Education Coordinator.
  • Supervise tutors’ annual plans and co-curricular activities.
  • Check lesson plans and tests, attend classes, provide technical support to tutors.
  • Participate in training and conferences.
  • Collaborate with tutors and support staff to address the needs of students with disabilities. and identify those students through assessments.
  • Coordinate with the Inclusion Officer for tailored support, monitoring classroom activities.
  • Meet with parents to discuss IEPs, organize inclusion and diversity events.
  • Implement coaching plans for tutors struggling with inclusive education strategies.

 3Centre Management

  • Manage disciplinary procedures for staff and students.
  • Enforce policies and safety protocols.
  • Develop and implement centre improvement plans.
  • Supervise daily operations and maintain a safe environment.
  • Promote collaboration with social workers and other support staff.
  • Conduct performance appraisals, coordinating with HR for new joiner orientation, and closely.
  • Supervise the Education Assistant to ensure task completion and provide support.

4. Communication and Availability

  • Contribute and complete the monthly activity plan while ensuring transparent communication and accountability,
  • Facilitate regular meetings with tutors, social workers, the Inclusion Officer, and parents to discuss student performance and well-being,
  • Maintain effective communication with staff to promote positive relations,
  • Report concerns to the Education Coordinator, creating a supportive work environment, and promptly executing tasks requested by the Education Coordinator or Project Manager.
  • The people who will report to the Education Officer include the Education Assistant, Tutors, and Support Staff.

 Qualifications , Skills , and Attributes:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a field directly related to Education.
  • Knowledge of English and Arabic both written and spoken is required.
  • Proven managerial experience.
  • Background in child protection and communities of Refugees or Displaced people is an asset.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to write and edit reports under deadlines.
  • Ability to work in multicultural environment.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and respecting deadlines.
  • Motivated, hardworking, and reliable.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and team working skills.
  • Good cultural awareness and sensitivity.
