INTERSOS is a non-profit Humanitarian Aid Organization that works to bring assistance to people in danger, victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts. Established in 1992 with support from the Italian Federation of Trade Unions, its actions are based on the values of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equal rights and opportunities for all people and respect for diversity and coexistence, paying particular attention to the most vulnerable and the unprotected.

INTERSOS is an independent association which, through its own humanitarian operators, intervenes to effectively answer the needs of people in serious crises situations, mainly in the world's poorest regions, who are suffering, deprived of rights, dignity and essentials goods. The head office in Italy coordinates, supports and monitors the planned activities in the countries of intervention carried out by decentralized offices.

 

 

Job Purpose:

 

Act according to the guiding principles of GBV, PwSN and Child Protection case management including: survivor centered approach, respect of confidentiality, prioritize according to safety concerns, ‘do not harm’, ensure a non-discriminatory approach, act according to the best interest of the child, ensure accountability, respect professional boundaries and avoid conflict of interest;

  1. Ensure that protection principles are understood, maintained and enforced;
  2. Provide direct support and care for vulnerable case with protection concerns (including survivors of gender-based violence), including psychosocial support and case management.
  3. Supervise and manage Case Worker team

 

Generic Duties:

 

  1. Plan/Coordinate with the Field Assistant and the Case Workers team; and in high risk cases, in consultation with Protection Specialist, to avoid duplication.
  2. Conduct home visits to assess the living conditions of the cases, when needed, and if the child/the survivor/the PoC give her/his consent;
  3. Ensure the provision of emergency cash assistance for the most vulnerable clients, according to the needs of the clients, the agreed criteria and the internal procedures and under the supervision of the Protection Officer.
  4. Be available to participate in meetings and trainings in and outside the centres including case management meetings and case conferences meetings or any other meetings when required
  5. Accomplish any other assignments given by supervisors or the PS and PM;
  6. Be available to participate in events, meetings and trainings in and outside the centres including case management meetings and case conferences meetings or any other meetings when required by the Protection Manager
  7. Accomplish any other relevant task requested by management.

 

Monitoring and Reporting:

  1. Provide daily and weekly updates to the Protection Manager and or National Protection officer-CM about new cases assessed as per internal rules;
  2. Elaborate on a monthly basis assessment, monitoring tools and send all case management documents to the Protection officer or Protection Manager each month;
  3. Elaborate and send the weekly report to the relevant departments and managers.
  4. Collect the data about cases assessed and assisted by case workers in her/his team to update the internal case tracking sheets (weekly and monthly reporting);
  5. Ensure the effective filing of cases, GBVIMS and other reporting.
  6. Update and report service mapping to Field Officers and Reporting Associate

 

Other Specific Duties:

 

(Can be adapted to the particularities of the job location and the requirement of the project. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired).

 

  1. Ensure timely and proper feedback/communication to Donor on specific cases requests
  2. Monitor and supervise the process of identification of SGBV, CP and PwSN cases
  3. Supervise implementation of case management in the intervention location in accordance with all CM steps and related tools and procedures as defined through INTERSOS Protection Strategy. ensuring that all high-risk cases are addressed immediately by case workers and shared with the direct line manager for possible intervention
  4. Ensure equal distribution of tasks within the case worker team
  5. Monitor the correct documentation and compilation of CM forms in accordance with all CM steps and related tools and procedures
  6. Hold regular internal mentoring and coaching sessions based on identified needs and gaps
  7. Ensuring proper and timely information flow, supervision and technical guidance in complex/high risk cases.
  8. Ensure coordination and synergy with the main service providers in the area of intervention for prompt referral, follow up and information sharing;

 

Human resources:

  1. Support in recruitment and selection of case workers
  2. Support Protection Manager in building staff capacity on case management and the guiding principles on protection
  3. Support, coordinate and supervise case worker team and evaluate their performance, especially from the technical point of view.
