DTM South Sudan: Population Count and Intention Survey Bentiu IDP Camp (March 2025)

In March 2025, IOM's Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) conducted an intention survey within the Bentiu IDP Camp as part of its regular population count. The survey revealed that 54.2 per cent (8,369 households comprising 55,597 individuals) intended to stay in the camp, while 37.7 per cent (5,821 households comprising 38,332 individuals) planned to return to their pre-displacement homes. Only 3.7 per cent (563 households comprising 3,993 individuals) expressed interest in local integration. The timeline varied among those planning to leave: 29.8 per cent (1,921 households) intended to move more than 12 months from the time of data collection (1 year from March 2025), and 17.5 per cent (1,122 households) were uncertain. The remaining 51.6 per cent planned to move within a period of less than one month to 12 months.
