Background:

When catastrophe hits, International Medical Corps is often one of the first humanitarian aid organizations on the scene providing rapid and effective aid that saves lives, reduces suffering, and promotes self-reliance.

International Medical Corps: provides safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient centered care; offers needs-based response according to the context and type of Sudden Onset Disaster and/or outbreak in the affected nation: adopts a human rights-based approach to their response; ensures they are accessible to all sections of the population affected by the SOD and/or outbreak particularly the vulnerable; and treats patients in a medically ethical manner consistent with the World Medical Association Medical Ethics Manual.

International Medical Corps is accountable to: patients and communities; host government, Ministry of Health; our organization and donors. International Medical Corps commits to a coordinated response under the national health emergency management authorities. International Medical Corps collaborates with the national health system, the cluster and the humanitarian community.

Job Purpose:

This position will support International Medical Corps' emergency response delivering outpatient clinical care to disaster effected populations by Beirut Blast.

Logistics Assistant should coordinate with the emergency response unit and prepare the weekly transportation schedule.

He/she will be the liaison between the program staff and logistics department to organize the dispatch of any item needed for the activity.

He/she will be requested to work from different sites as needed (warehouse, office, filed site). 

He/she will assist the logistics department with any duty related to the emergency program.

He/she will assist the IT officers with some assigned duties

Main Responsabilities:

  • Responsible for the coordination, tracking, distribution of vehicle loads.
  • Liaises with Logistics & Security Manager and Logistics Officer on issues relating to the maintenance of operation of vehicles including daily entries in vehicle log books and ensures that documents are properly filled. 
  • Is in charge of the materials used for the emergency activities.
  • Assist the logistics department in collecting the monthly bills related to the office (i.e. generator/electricity/internet bills etc.).
  • Responsible for planning the transportation of IMC emergency response unit for the weekly schedule.
  • Install, configure operating systems, software, printers and scanners.
  • Setting up accounts for new users
  • Repairing and replacing equipment as necessary
  • Escalate and report issues to IT officers
  • Provide support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports

Qualifications.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to operate effectively across organizational bounders, ability to establish and maintain effective partnership and working relations in a multi-cultural , multi-ethical environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in providing technical support
  • Knowledge in basic IT Duties and Responsibilities

Experience:

  • Previous Experience of admin/logistics field and IT duties

Competency:

  • Should be able to review the Logbook and vehicle check list.
  • Be able to Report any safety issues with vehicles to the Logistics and Security Manager immediately.
  • Able to perform minor IT tasks
  • Good computer skills.
