Re-advertised: Video Editor for Social Media Campaign

 

Institute for War & Peace Reporting is an independent non profit organisation that works with media and civil society to promote positive change in conflict zones, closed societies, and countries in transition around the world. Under the project titled Women’s Empowerment for Peacebuilding in Syria ( WEPS) which is funded by the Department of State.

 

In that regard, IWPR seeks to hire a video editor to assemble recorded footage from the WEPS program into a finished project in accordance with the Communications Manager guildelines. The Promo video will have as an aim to highlight the impact of the WEPS program and have to be at a high quality to be shared on IWPR and partners platforms and with the donor.

 

Scope of Work: 

 

  1. Download the prepare the footage shared by IWPR
  2. Edit video piece in a way that is invisible to the audience
  3. Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the short video
  4. Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects
  5. Create rough and final cuts
  6. Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running
  7. Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency
  8. Add the translated subtitles to the videos

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • A degree in media, journalism, or similar
  • At least three (3) years of progressively advanced video editing experience
  • Strong theoretical and practical background in video editing
  • Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Avid

Media Composer, Lightworks, Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut)

  • Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
  • Creative mind and storytelling skills
  • Proficiency in Arabic
  • Working experience in development or humanitarian environment is desirable
  • Proven familiarity with the work of Syria and having excellent understanding of the conflict issues and community security is a huge asset
