1. Background Information:

The Community Organization for Development and Empowerment-TCODE-INITIATE is a Nongovernmental, nonprofit, youth-oriented organization based in Lebanon and dedicated to assisting vulnerable communities through youth inclusion and empowerment. While keeping youth at its focus of its mission, TCODE-INITIATE continually endeavors in creating comprehensive and inclusive programs aimed towards the empowerment of youth, and its concentric circles of influence.

In the process of delivering its Mission TCODE-INITIATE aspires to keeping its status as a hub for youth allowing them to: access a safe space, and acquire knowledge and access to a network of social and political influencers enhancing their social participation in decision making processes.

  1. Purpose of the Contract:

The Agricultural Consultant, through the AgriMovement Project, will reactivate and expand the Seeds of Sour program by cultivating the entire plot for seasonal crop production, directly benefiting IDPs and the Municipalities Union in Sour.

  1. Tasks:

Project Management and Oversight:

    • Conduct training sessions for Cash for Work women on new methods of planting.
    • Provide continuous, in person agricultural coaching to farmers, emphasizing sustainable practices to maximize yields on the plot.
    • Monitor and evaluate project progress monthly, preparing reports to keep stakeholders updated.
    • Submit weekly work plans
    •  Submit monthly reports of the progress and achievements.

Land Preparation and Planting:

    • Oversee daily plot management, optimizing land use for seasonal crops and ensuring efficient planting and rotation schedules in alignment with local climate conditions.

Training and Capacity Building:

    • Provide guidance and training sessions for the farmer monitoring the CFW and the agricultural land.
    • Conduct virtual or small-scale training sessions on sustainable farming and seed-saving practices, focusing on building resilience among IDPs, returnees and farmers despite current challenges.
    • Provide educational resources to support balcony and container gardening for displaced families.
    • Supporting CNRS with the training materials and curriculum

Market and Value Chain Development:

    • Identify potential local market opportunities for any surplus crops produced, facilitating connections with community kitchens and organic markets.
    • Support the establishment of fair-price sales channels, contributing to the economic resilience of participating families and farmers
