OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:

Under the line management of the Project Manager and the supervision of the MHPSS TO L2 , the Psychosocial Outreach Worker (PSOW) will implement a qualitative community-based approach of the Emergency project for the most vulnerable population affected by Beirut Blast.

The Psychosocial Outreach Worker (PSOW) will be in charge of the door-to-door outreach targeting beneficiaries affected by Beirut Blast.

PSOW will identify essential and rehabilitation needs, spot the signs and symptoms of psychological distress, provide help on a first aid basis, enter the collected data correctly into the activity database, and engage in self-care through debriefings and other group sessions led by the MHPSS TO L2.

Moreover, the PSOW will attend all PFA’s related trainings.

 

Responsibilities

 

Responsibility 1: Under the line management of PM and the supervision of MHPSS TO L2, the PSOW should implement the beneficiary’s outreach, support in raising awareness regarding Mental Health, and referring beneficiaries after identifying needs.

 

Activities:             

  • Conduct door-to-door outreach of beneficiaries.
  • Identify and document beneficiaries’ specific and prioritized needs in a participatory manner (disabilities and vulnerabilities).
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and the MHPSS TO L2 regularly, to discuss and update activities’ plan & timeframe.
  • Conduct quality PFA in a respectful and dignifying manner.
  • In collaboration with the Accountability & Referral Officer, ensure safe identification and referral & follow up mechanism is implemented at both internal and external level as per HI standards when relevant.
  • Apply basic psychosocial communication skills including active listening and empathy when interacting with beneficiaries.
  • Ensure the secrecy and privacy of the information shared by the beneficiaries at all times.
  • Uphold the humanitarian principles in daily tasks including the informed consent of the beneficiaries.
  • Provide COVID-19 awareness session to beneficiaries.

 

Responsibility 2: Data management, reporting, and team collaboration.

 

Activities:

  • Ensure accurate, complete, and consistent data collection.
  • Collect all the missing information from the field related to the outreach process or to project’s reporting.
  • Organize all the open files and respect confidentiality at all times.
  • Continuous follow up of the database and PSO.
  • Daily reporting on outreach/ referrals’ submissions and bi-monthly planning.
  • Timely inform the MHPSS TO L2 of the weekly needs and produce the related documentation.
  • Refer to the MHPSS TO L2 for technical support when needed.
  • Participate in the different activities that are common to all team’s members.
  • Work in harmonic coordination with all team’s members.
  • Ensure internal standards, guidelines, and policies including safeguarding are respected.
  • Attend the debriefing group sessions led by the MHPSS TO L2.

 

Responsibility 3: Contribute to project lesson learnt and promotion at national & international level

 

Activities :

  • Collect data as per the framework defined and contribute to their analysis.
  • Input in the identification and analysis of the project good practice.

 

Confidentiality is required in all these responsibilities.

 

 

Note that this job description must remain flexible, to respond to additional tasks or changes as identified by the line manager.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • University degree in Social Work or/and Psychology.
  • Fluent in Arabic and in Englsih (writing and speaking), French would be an asset.
  • Previous experience in the related field with preference with NGO is an asset.
  • Demonstrate good understanding of conducting PSO and ability to perform Focus Group Discussions when needed.
  • Understanding of a comprehensive approach on disability and vulnerability.
  • Proven coordination skills to work with a diverse network of actors, including the public authorities, in a diplomatic manner.
  • Efficient reporting skills from the field.
  • Strong local knowledge of the area.
  • Ability to relate to the target group (be approachable, shows empathy) and work with children.
  • Ability to propose workable solutions and identify their implications (positive and negative) adapted to beneficiaries’ needs.
  • Ability to adapt to the harsh environment and work calmly under pressure with limited supervision.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, especially Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills to manage and follow up a number of referred cases timely and accurately.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and in a multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Ability to respect dealines and to work under pressure.
  • Very positive personality, with strong orientation towards solution.
  • Diplomacy sense.
  • Adaptibility and flexbiltity.
  • Autonomy in work.

Basic salary range for the position: The Psychosocial Outreach Worker is going to be paid according to the experience and to HI salary Grid.

Basic Salary range between USD 1320 – USD 1530
