Helem is the first LGBTQIA+ rights organization in the Arab world, officially established in Beirut, Lebanon in 2001. Its mission is to lead the struggle for the liberation of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Intersex, Transgendered, Queer (LGBTQIA+) and other people with non-conforming sexualities and/or gender identities in Lebanon and the SWANA region from all sorts of violations of their individual and collective civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights. Our goal is to empower young LGBTQIA+ leaders to advocate for their own liberation. We seek to create initiatives and spaces where our communities can leverage unity through diversity and build power. We protect and support individuals with the resources to resist the harm caused by homophobia and transphobia. We empower our youth through education and community building and mobilize to change the laws, policies, and practices that deny us equality and reduce our quality of life.

Helem is seeking to recruit a training coordinator for it Academy program for a series of workshops that cover topics inlcuding: SOGIESC 101, SOGIESC for Service Providers, SRHR for Trans Individuals, SRHR for LBQ Women, How to Argue Back, Know Your Rights, and others. Helem plans to update and upgrade these workshops to serve as a basis for both in person and online training sessions for LGBTQ individuals and allies throughout the region in Arabic and to turn 4 of these courses (SOGIESC 101, Advanced SOGIESC, SRHR I, and SRHR II to 2-hour online e-courses in Arabic available for free for all individuals across the region.The ideal candidate would have a diverse range of expertise and understanding of gender and sexual rights in Lebanon and the MENA region, conducting trainings, training of trainers, attending and monitoring workshop as well as actively seeking audiences and participants for Helem’s roster of workshops and training. This position presents a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on advancing capacity building and awareness raising awareness across the region where access to this information in Arabic is non-existent.


  • Manage all aspects of Helem’s Training Program including advertising, outreach, planning, logistics, and strategy;
  • Ensure all of the program’s yearly and periodic deliverables are met in a complete and timely fashion;
  • Manage the production of all training material for all of Helem’s workshop training roster including introductory documents, power-points, handouts, and supplementary material physically and digitally in English and Arabic;
  • Participate and approve all curriculum development and ensure all materials are of sufficient quality and relevance to the program’s mission and objectives;
  • Produce any and all monitoring and evaluation tools for the entire program including timelines, number, breadth, and variety of participants;
  • Produce any and all monitoring and evaluation tools for each individual workshop including attendance sheets, workshop evaluation forms, trainer evaluation forms, photographs, participant lists for certification, and pre and post-tests both physically and digitally and in English and Arabic;
  • Attend and monitor all workshops and trainings and ensure their smooth and professional operation, troubleshoot challenges, and provide feedback for all relevant stakeholders when necessary;
  • Manage any and all logistics related to trainings outside of Helem including liaising with focal points, trainers, and individual participants to guarantee maximum attendance and to ensure all printer and digital materials and equipment are ready and functioning prior to the start of the training;
  • Manage the programs training roster and schedules and ensure availability and suitability of all trainers;
  • Ensure all training focal points and participants complete all of their requirements to qualify for deliverables, monitoring and evaluation, and certification when applicable;
  • Promote and actively seek new audiences and participant pools for Helem’s roster of workshops and trainings, both online and in person;
  • Increase Helem’s database of contacts and ensure all participants are enrolled in Helem’s databases upon their consent;
  • Represent the organization in meetings, interviews, and other forums with professionalism and in adherence to its mission, vision, and code of conduct;
  • Produce any and all narrative reports in a timely and professional manner and keep a meticulous log of all financial expenditures including receipts, invoices, and other financial documents;
  • Manage any and all procurement requirements for any expenditures under the program and liaise with Helem’s administrative staff to do so;
  • Liaise with the communications department to help produce and implement an advertising and communications strategy and campaign(s) for the program as a whole as well as for each individual workshop;
  • Ensure all training materials are saved online, on hard disk, and in physical form (when necessary), and that each individual workshop has all of its supplementary material (agenda, attendees, tests, evaluations, and photos) are saved individually;
  • Coordinate with other Helem departments the establishment and growth of the e-course program at Helem using the workshops of the training program;
  • Provide advice and participate in planning and strategy meetings for the e-course program during its design and creation phase;
  • Actively integrate the e-course program into the training program for Helem upon completion of each individual training;
  • Coordinate with Helem’s communications department to promote and disseminate the e-course program when needed.
  • Maintain the strictest and highest forms of professionalism and confidentiality with regards to any and all information received and processed from Helem’s stakeholders;
  • Accomplish and assist in any other task not here listed if required by the organization or deemed necessary to the full achievement of the department’s goals.

Education and work experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or more than 3 years of experience in the fields of project management, social work, gender studies, education, and/or communications.
  • Knowledge of LGBTIQ+ issues in Lebanon and the MENA region.
  • Prior work experience with LGBTIQ+ and other marginalized communities in a training or service provision setting.
  • Maintain the highest standards of respect, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills in both English and Arabic .
  • Meticulous attention to detail and prior experience working with data harvesting, input, and analysis strongly preferred.
  • Strong management and organization skills and the ability to meet deadlines and adjust for contingencies.
  • High levels of initiative to build and expand their department and increase successful trainings.
  • Capacity to operate independently as well as work as part of a growing team especially in collaboaration with the communications and MEAL department.
  • Knowledge in managing and complying with deadlines, deliverables, schedules and budgets
