The Global Health Institute (GHI) at the American University of Beirut is looking for a Project Coordinator.

The project coordinator is responsible for coordinating all research, implementation, and outreach activities related to the Refugee Health Program (RHP). The coordinator will work closely with the RHP team and GHI Programs Division management to ensure all deliverables under the project are being met.

Specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Contribute to planning the research and implementation strategy for relevant project(s).
  • Planning and carrying out field work and data collection.
  • Preparing applications and proposals for ethical review.
  • Ensuring the timely achievement of deliverables and coordinating among co-investigators in the project.
  • Contributing to conception, writing, and publishing of scholarly outputs.
  • Preparing conference and meeting presentations.
  • Leading the development and submission of new grant applications.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Holds a MSc (with 3-5 years of experience) or MD/PhD (with 2 years of experience) in global health, public health, or other health-related field.
  • Adequate experience in preparing research tools (questionnaires and surveys), data collection, and field work.
  • Proven excellent analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple project deliverables and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic.
  • Relevant experience in academic research environment.
  • Relevant experience in writing multidisciplinary research proposals and grant applications.

The successful candidate will be based at the Global Health Institute offices at AUB and will be required to start immediately after the time of acceptance. The selected candidate will be reporting directly to the Programs Division Manager.

This job description reflects the core activities of the role.  There will inevitably be changes in the emphasis of duties as the research project progresses from the planning to the implementation phases. It is expected that the hired person recognises this and adopts a flexible approach to work and be willing to adapt to changes accordingly.

 

About the Refugee Health Program

The Refugee Health Program (RHP) is a multidisciplinary program targeting refugee health from a global health perspective. The program aims to combine the academic and practical expertise on global health, refugee and community health, and medicine to generate contextualized knowledge, as well as outreach and capacity building activities that serve the needs of the targeted populations.

Established in 2017, the Global Health Institute (GHI) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) is the first global health institute in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and is one of the very few in the Global South. GHI addresses global health challenges with a focus on context and sustainable impact by employing an interdisciplinary approach.
