Job Profile

A. Required qualifications, competences and experience

Formal Qualification:

  • Bachelor, academic studies – diploma level or secondary school education
  • first aid training courses certificate is a plus
  • holds a valid Lebanese driver’s licence still valid for at least 4 years
  • profound knowledge of Lebanese road traffic regulations

Professional experience:

  • at least 7 years’ work experience as a driver with references (min. 2 years in Lebanon)
  • very good knowledge of North Lebanon region
  • no major accidents in the past 7 years

Other knowledge, additional competences:

  • very good knowledge of the English and Arabic language (spoken and written)
  • good communication and cooperation skills
  • appropriate appearance and attire (friendly manner with all passengers and contacts)
  • discipline and punctuality
  • resilience and patience
  • willingness to work irregular hours if needed
  • dedication/commitment, reliable

B.  Major Responsibilities

  1. Driving services
  • provides passenger transport within the different sites of implementation of the programme in an official car for the project/program staff, official visitors and guests closely cooperating with GIZ security management
  • taking account of all available information on road conditions, accessible routes and locations in continuous exchange with GIZ security management
  • transports equipment, goods, luggage, documents and keeps them safe at all times
  • record keeping of all vehicle movements and daily maintaining a diver’s logbook for vehicle log correctly (fuel, maintenance, oil change, spare parts, etc.) as per GIZ regulations
  • ensuring the efficient and appropriate transport and establishment of equipment for the implementation of events outside the office
  1. Vehicle Management and car maintenance
  • self-initiative and independent execution of regularly servicing and looking after official GIZ vehicles as per service plan and requirement
  • being responsible at all time for holding available all relevant and required security and first aid equipment in the official GIZ vehicles as per national standards and GIZ regulations in close cooperation with GIZ security management
  • facilitating regular update of car license, renewal and car insurance status
  • ensures unrestricted availability of vehicles at all times and reports restrictions immediately
  • keeps the interior and exterior of the vehicle(s) clean
  • checks oil, water, brakes and brake liquid, tyre pressure, battery levels and the entire vehicle, headlights, brakes, bodywork for dents etc. regularly
  • responsible for the project vehicle documents and their good condition, keeping and monitoring of the vehicle logbooks for the vehicles of programmes and recording monthly maintenance
  • reports need for service and carries out minor repairs
  • immediately reports all involvement of the program vehicle in accidents, including minor accidents, damage, loss or theft of vehicle fittings
  1. Other duties/additional tasks:
  • supports with all necessary logistics related to events outside the office
  • carries out minor repairs to office equipment
  • assisting with other office work of the projects
  • assisting in technical support of the project staff upon request
  • Reports any incident whilst off duty that may affect his/her driving licence entitlement, as well as any newly known health problems that may affect his/her ability to drive.

Description of the project:

Under the German-Lebanese Cooperation, GIZ is implementing, jointly with the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE) the Sustainable Facility Management at Public Schools in Lebanon (SUFA) project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) as part of the education portfolio of GIZ Lebanon.

The project is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on the improvement of maintenance of public schools through introducing Sustainable Facility Management measures at the strategic and operational levels. The second part is about the learning environment at schools with a main focus on the concept of Green Schools which includes both the installation of environmental hardware measures and the implementation of awareness and educational activities at the school level.
