Civil Engineer

The project is Funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMZ), through RET Germany, and implemented by GATE Lebanon.
Under the project "Improving Food Security, Livelihoods, and Inclusion of Women and Vulnerable Groups, and Promoting Gender Equality in North Lebanon," funded by BMZ through RET Germany in cooperation with GATE Lebanon, a program is being implemented to support business owners in Akkar.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Civil Engineer will be responsible for:
- Project Implementation:
- Assist in the design and implementation of project activities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Support in the preparation of technical drawings, specifications, and other project documentation.
- Participate in field assessments and data collection to inform project planning and implementation.
- Participate in reaching out to communities and beneficiaries
- Site Supervision:
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and quality delivery of project components.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and address any issues that may arise.
- Reporting and Documentation:

- Report to Field Operation Officer

- Prepare regular progress reports detailing project milestones, challenges, and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, including site observations, material deliveries, and correspondence.
- Community Engagement:
- Engage with local communities to ensure project activities are responsive to their needs and concerns.
- Conduct awareness sessions or training as required to support project objectives.
- Foster positive relationships with community members and leaders to facilitate project implementation.
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Experience:
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply; prior internship or volunteer experience in civil engineering projects is an advantage.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant engineering software.
- Basic understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and legal regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to diverse cultural contexts.
- Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in Arabic; proficiency in English. French is an asset.
Working Conditions
- Based in Akkar with potential travel to project sites as required.
- Standard working hours with occasional need for extended hours based on project demands.
- Engagement in both office and field environments, which may include exposure to varying weather conditions.
