FES in Lebanon is looking for a part-time Programme Manager (75%) for its regional project on feminism and gender justice. The project aims at integrating feminist perspectives on socio-economic issues into public discourse, fostering long-term alliances that link feminism with broader social justice movements, and providing the space for exchange around various gender issues. The project also works towards strengthening gender mainstreaming across FES offices in the MENA region and contributes to FES’ global work on feminism and gender justice.

Under the responsibility of the Programme Director, the Programme Manager contributes to define areas and means of intervention and designs project strategies with a specific focus on feminism and gender justice. He/she is responsible for the conceptual planning, content, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of activities related to the projects assigned to him/her.

As part of these responsibilities, the Programme Manager:

  • Is responsible for managing FES’ internal gender justice network, develop training programmes for FES staff according to their needs and provides advice on gender mainstreaming and feminist strategies for strategy and programme development;
  • Manages budgets and programmes on topics surrounding gender equality and feminist issues, with a focus on feminist perspectives on economy, care work and social justice;
  • Monitors and provides profound analysis of current affairs and developments, prepares reports, and provides policy advice related to his/her area of work;
  • Opens and maintains the dialogue with potential partners of the Foundation, and identifies multipliers, trainers and experts that could contribute to FES activities;
  • Moderates meetings, conference panels and debates, and facilitates workshops and training sessions of both, physical and virtual nature, in English, French or Arabic, in Lebanon and – occasionally – abroad;
  • Prepares, writes, edits and disseminates articles, presentations, training and advocacy material and publications for print and digital media;
  • Represents the FES at events, meetings and conferences to key stakeholders and partners in Lebanon and in the region.

Required Profile:

  • Master Degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, or related subjects, with a focus on gender equality and women rights.
  • Three to five years of project management experience in non-profit advocacy work in the Middle East/North Africa, on gender equality, women rights and feminist issues.
  • Experience in organizational change as well as strategically and effectively designing and managing partner-oriented programmes and budgets.
  • Strong networks within the region related to gender equality and feminism.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills as well as good team-player qualifications.
  • Strong communication skills; ability and experience in building and maintaining strong networks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic, English and French.
  • A background in innovative learning methodologies and practical experiences in usage of multimedia tools, IT-affinity.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and internationally.
  • Commitment to the values of feminism and social democracy.

Conditions

Status: local employee with fixed-term contract (according to the duration of the project, extendable in case of continuation of the Foundation’s project activities in Lebanon).

Contract Type: Part-Time (75%) with possibility of full-time in 2022

Beginning: Late July/Early August 2021; a probation period of three months applies.
