Food Processing Consultant - Bekaa & North Lebanon

Fondazione Giovanni Paolo II is recruiting a Food Processing Officer in order to support agricultural-food processing cooperatives and informal groups of producers under the frame of two projects “Promoting local Economic Development in North East Bekaa” funded by the European Union and “Strengthening the resilience and coping capacities of vulnerable population of North East Lebanon” funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development Cooperation.

Under the supervision of the JPIIF Value Chain expert and in team with JPIIF technical staff, the food processing field specialist will support and monitor the design and activation of standardized-high quality food processing practices within target agrifood cooperatives.

Supported in the logistic by JPII staff, the technician will work in the field, to monitor the proper functioning of the processing lines and a constant follow-up during the production phase, to guarantee that quality and safety standards are applied by the beneficiary producers.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Promote a participatory approach by ensuring constant field visits and follow up to the cooperative’s members or informal group of food producers during the different phases of the program for activating and running the established food-processing lines.
• Promote the introduction within the target food processing cooperatives of innovative and professional food processing practices, also linking when necessary with other professional expertise.
• Support JPII procurement & logistic department in the identification of suppliers for the purchasing of specific machineries, tools and materials needed.
• Promote strong coordination with other Food Processing Consultants in order to maximize the impact.
• Contribute to the elaboration of technical manuals for operational standard procedures related to the target food processing lines.

It is expected that the Food processing field technician will directly guide and follow up the activation of diversified food processing lines in several agro-food cooperatives/informal groups.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Having a degree/ bachelor degree in fields like food technology, food processing, food safety.
• Proved qualification and direct professional experience in traditional and innovative medium-scale food production processes, applying high quality standards.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in relevant medium-large scale food processing companies/cooperatives
• Capacity to transfer knowledge and best practices by training and through direct co-production and follow up of production phases for the target selected products
• High interactive and communication skills, enabling the candidate to mobilize and guide groups towards the objectives of the analysis
• Dedicated and organized
