  1. Objectives of the Project

The overall objective of the project is to improve the livelihood, agency, legal and social protection for Syrian women refugees, IDPs and women in host communities in Lebanon, Iraq / KR-I and Jordan. The project seeks to bring to policy level the immediate needs of the most vulnerable women, combining emergency response with development of long-term capacities.

The specific objectives of the project in Lebanon are:

1. Security and resilience for Syrian women refugees and women from host communities is enhanced through supporting and coordinating comprehensive and structured services and referral mechanisms

2. National institutions, policy frameworks and legislation are more gender sensitive and gender equality and empowerment are sustainably enhanced.

The project pioneers in Lebanon the establishment of a National Gender Observatory.

The specific objective of the National Gender Observatory is enhancing the institutional capacities and cross-sector coordination mechanisms to ensure that Government of Lebanon’s (GoL) Syrian crisis response is gender-sensitive.

2. Scope, specific objectives and requirements

2.1 Scope of work of the Observatory

The National Gender Observatory established in Lebanon in 2018, is working in partnership with representatives from key ministries and actors involved in the response of the Syrian crises, independent gender experts and researchers, national and international women’s rights organizations.

The specific objective of the National Gender Observatory is to enhance the institutional capacities and cross-sector coordination mechanisms in order to ensure the improvement of the situation for women and girls in Lebanon, and thereby support an engendered response to the protracted Syrian crisis. This will benefit the situation of the most vulnerable - Syrian women refugees as well as Lebanese women and girls in host communities

EuroMed Feminist Initiative provides technical and institutional support in order to develop the methodology for gender-based data collection and to manage its activities. At this stage, EFI is developing a website for the National Gender Observatory and is currently looking at hiring a Content Development Specialist.

2.2. Roles and responsibilities of the Content development specialist

  • Ideation and creation of website Content, blog posts and online articles: Research and propose innovative and compelling written content
  • Social media content: Produce multimedia and written content for use on social media, including creating and managing a content calendar
  • Analyze metrics: Provide analysis and recommendations, and collect insights and statistics on a regular basis to optimize the performance of the website and social media platforms
  • Manage and implement a boosting plan for the social media pages

2.3. Team Collaboration

The content development specialist works under the supervision of EFI EU MADAD Country Manager in Lebanon. The content development specialist works in collaboration with National Gender Observatory Researchers as well as EFI Communication team and MADAD project officer.

2.4. Skillset

  • BA in English, communication, journalism, social sciences or any relevant field ;
  • Knowledge and understanding of gender related topics, GBV and of the situation and challenges in the MENA region ;
  • At least three years of experience in Communications, Digital Marketing, Web development or other relevant fields;
  • Experience in social media content management ;
  • Knowledge of marketing including web analytics and SEO ;
  • Proven experience producing quality creative materials for print, broadcast or digital ;
  • Knowledge of data visualization software such as dashboard and tableau is a strong asset;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, fluent in Arabic is a plus

2.5. Competencies

  • Conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results ;
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills ;
  • Willingness to use initiative, work independently and think creatively ;
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills ;
