Purpose:

Under the direction and supervision of the Business and Investment Enabling Environment (BIEE) / Objective 3 Lead, the Legal and Regulatory Policy Specialist will support planning and implementation of activities to improve the business and investment enabling environment of Lebanon.

Responsibilities and Key Tasks:

  • Conduct research to identify and target bottlenecks hindering trade and investment and identify opportunities for policy changes.
  • Contribute to development of evidence-based list of priority policy reforms.
  • Support development and implementation of activities that build capacity of ecosystem actors to effectively advocate for BIEE reform. Activities may include co-designed grants combined with technical assistance.
  • Collaborate with short-term experts to develop the capacity of sector associations to implement effective advocacy strategies.
  • Other duties as required by supervisor or the Deputy Chief of Party.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in law, international affairs, international business, public policy, public administration or related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience, including experience analyzing legal and regulatory policy.
  • Experience coordinating with the private sector, international donor programs, academic institutions, and/or government entities preferred.
  • Strong communication skills - both written and oral – in English and Arabic.
