Organization Background:

Welthungerhilfe (WHH) is a private, non-profit-making, politically independent and non-denominational organization that supports people living in deprivation and poverty, irrespective of the color of their skin, their religious beliefs or their worldview. WHH is working in the fields of development cooperation and humanitarian aid, relief aid, rehabilitation, and reconstruction. In Lebanon, WHH implement projects through local implementing partners where agriculture, livelihoods, food security and social stability are the main working fields.

WHH is looking for a consultant expert in Agro-Economy. Further details of the assignment can be found in the Terms of Reference.

Tasks & Details:

• Developing a guide to sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices of wheat & cereals
• Assessing implementing partners’ agricultural marketing expertise and supporting them in designing a program that aims to strengthen local farmers and producers’ capacities.
• Supporting implementing partners in the development of technical support programs (based on GAP, GMP, and GHP) for farmers and agro food processors.
• Supporting with the monitoring the agricultural tests (Soil test, pesticide residue test, etc.)
• Supporting the design and oversee the implementation of the incubator and fumigation center and its production system.
• Defining a set of livelihood interventions for the project beneficiaries (producers/farmers/processors)
• Providing technical support for our implementing partners in the development and implementation of the cooperative-business and technical support program.
• Support in the design and monitor the assessments to be conducted by partners in the target areas.
• Provide continuous technical assistance to partner organizations to improve production (both qualitative and quantitative), post-harvesting and processing techniques.
• Support partner organization to improve the business skills of targeted value chain producers as per project design.
• Support in the design and implementation of any assessment for the related value chains.
• Supporting in reviewing the economic impact of the programme.
• Preparing appropriate reports and presentations.
• Any other duties as defined.
