DRI is looking for an expert in Emotional Intelligence to deliver two training workshops on emotional intelligence in times of crisis for politically engaged women who are willing to run for the municipal elections (two full-day workshop for one group of at least 30 women or two days' workshop for two groups of at least 15 women each willing to run for the municipal elections). The activity aims at strengthening their emotional intelligence – including self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills – in times of crisis.
Background
Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a global non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting political participation and democratic governance worldwide. Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, DRI operates across Western Asia and North Africa (WANA), Sub-Saharan Africa, and Europe. It maintains country offices in Tunisia, Lebanon, Libya (operating remotely from Tunisia), the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ukraine, collaborating with various international and local partners across several countries. In addition to its physical presence, DRI is actively engaged in promoting Digital Democracy in many other areas.
Since 2016 DRI has been raising awareness and advocating for evidence-based policies and public debates that foster democratic and accountable governance, the rule of law, and political participation in Lebanon, in cooperation with civil society organisations and public officials. Particularly, DRI is working to expand the democratic space for a civil society-led debate on systemic change in Lebanon, encouraging citizens to actively participate in the governing of their own country in an inclusive and participatory manner.
In the framework of the project “Localising political reform in Lebanon: Supporting local governments and civil society to effect change in their communities”, DRI is contributing to setting the political reform agenda through building a community of change makers at the national and local levels. Therefore, DRI is training municipal members and potential candidates for the municipal elections to increase their core skills and foster their participation in public life.
During the past 5 years, the Lebanese population has witnessed a series of compounded crises at various levels, which negatively impacted the political participation of women and vulnerable groups. To this end, DRI is recruiting an Emotional Intelligence Expert to deliver a training workshop on “Emotional Intelligence in Times of Crisis”. DRI currently assessing one of two options:
- Option 1: One workshop delivered over two full days, for at least 30 politically engaged women who are willing to run for the municipal elections.
- Option 2: Two workshops, each delivered in one full day, for two groups of at least 15 women each willing to run for the municipal elections.
The training aims at providing the participants with the tools and techniques to enhance their emotional intelligence in times of crisis, including but not limited to:
1. Resilience through Self-Awareness and Self-Management
- Trauma and Stress Management
- Building Inner Resilience
- Self-Care in Crisis
2. Empathy and Social Awareness in Humanitarian Crises
- Trauma-Informed Empathy
- Cultural Sensitivity and Inclusion in Crisis
3. Crisis Leadership and Conflict Resolution
- Managing Conflict in Host Communities
- Crisis Communication and Leadership
- Collaborative Humanitarian Leadership
This session shall equip individuals with the skills needed to deal with such challenges, lead in times of crisis, and sustain social cohesion amidst the current context.
Your duties and responsibilities
Under the supervision of DRI’s Programme Manager, the Expert will:
- Develop interactive and detailed training modules, a training session plan, and all accompanying background materials (one expert day);
- Deliver the workshop following an interactive, engaging approach, e.g., discussion activities, exercises, role plays (two expert days);
- Prepare pre- and post-training test modules to be shared with the participants before and after the training sessions, or other relevant evaluation tools, once validated by DRI;
- Once each training is completed, submit a training report summarising the training outcomes and the pre-/post-training tests results, and reflecting the trainees’ increase in knowledge as per the template provided by DRI (one expert day).
Your skills and experience
- A university degree in psychology, education, human resources, development studies, social studies, or relevant fields;
- At least 7 years of experience in Human Resources, Organisational Behaviour, Leadership Development.
- At least 3 training assignments in the field of psychology and/or emotional intelligence conducted in the past three years;
- Solid practical knowledge and command of emotional intelligence methodologies and tools;
- Robust facilitation skills using interactive and dynamic methods;
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people from different political backgrounds;
- A specialised certification in emotional intelligence, coaching, or related areas is an asset;
- Gender and cultural sensitivity;
- Working proficiency in Arabic and English.
