Responsible to: Global Syria Campaign Lead
Allowance: USD 1,000
Duration: 6 -month contract with an option to extend

We are currently looking for a Campaigns & Research Assistant who is available to work from the end of August 2020 for twelve months. You will act as the central coordinating point for the Syria Campaign team spread out across Crisis Action’s global offices You will be responsible for a range of duties, including: supporting the delivery of Crisis Action Syria campaign; compiling media updates; supporting the development of our network; coordinating and attending meetings and drafting notes; tracking campaign developments; conducting research tasks and support administrative work.
Description of Campaigns and Research Assistant role:
The Campaigns and Research Assistant will be working closely with the Global Syria Campaign Lead, within the MENA office. The work involves a range of duties including:
Providing coordination support for design and delivery of Crisis Action’s Syria campaign work, including:
Contributing to the development of the Syria campaign strategies.
Supporting with the project management of campaign activities.
Supporting the development of campaign products, including social media toolkits, graphics, press releases and joint letters.
Supporting partner, policymaker and media outreach in the Middle East and North Africa region.
Monitoring regional and international media to keep abreast of political and country developments and track media pick-up of campaign products, and collating regular media updates for partners
Undertaking research on issues and contacts relevant to our campaign work, including attending relevant external events, and drafting briefings and intel updates
Supporting the organisation’s use of social media, including the Crisis Action twitter account.
Tracking campaign developments and impact.
Providing administrative support to the global campaign team, including:
Maintaining the central Salesforce contact database, keeping records of meetings and activities.
Taking minutes on internal and external calls and in meetings with key organizations and individuals.
We’re looking for someone who:
Commitment to Crisis Action’s mandate
A degree in politics, international relations, law or a similar field and/or related experience
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of international human rights and humanitarian law, how they apply in armed conflict situations, and the role of the international community in upholding international peace and security
Experience conducting research or advocacy on conflicts
Excellent project management and administrative skills and a high level of organization
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to maintain partnerships with civil society groups to ensure their expertise drives and determines the nature of our work
Ability to work as a collegiate member of a small team, and with minimal supervision
High levels of efficiency, professionalism, energy, enthusiasm and ambition
Fluent written and spoken English and Arabic
