Description:

Being the MENA Advocacy and Campaigns Manager for Crisis Action is not a typical management role. Crisis Action seeks to multiply the impact of civil society on armed conflicts by mobilizing and managing coalition campaigns. Therefore, rather than line managing an in-house team you will be responsible for motivating, supporting and catalyzing the work of an external team of our partners which may involve organizations in dozens of countries. The ability to work with and motivate very different organizations and to manage complex and intensive joint initiatives is therefore crucial to this role.
Among your key tasks will be:

Development and implementation of coalition campaign activities. You will devise and drive forward the development of advocacy activities that utilize the resources and influence of partner organizations to the greatest possible effect. This process will involve advising on strategy, proposing innovative campaign tactics and implementing diverse advocacy activities, including gaining headline media attention, preparing reports and briefings and identifying and building relationships with key officials in individual MENA governments and within the Arab League. While your key focus will be the Middle East and North Africa, you will work closely with colleagues in our other offices across the world, contributing to shaping and delivering our international campaigns.

Analysis of MENA foreign policy to develop advocacy strategies. Focusing on actual or potential conflicts of most concern to our partners, you will supplement their understanding by investigating and analyzing the policy positions of key governments in the region including statements and actions as they effect specific crises. You will build up in-depth and nuanced intelligence relating to the country-specific policy of the member states of the Arab League, GCC, OIC and other regional agencies, as well as of influential Arab officials. You will play an important role in further building high-level relationships across Arab governments and the Arab League. The result will be top quality advice to partners on advocacy demands, strategy and suggestions for action.

Contributing to the strategic development of Crisis Action. Crisis Action has exciting plans to develop our international reach and organisational skills base to meet the challenges of effective coalition campaigning. You will be able to contribute your ideas and energy to this growth and strategic development. Within the MENA office, you will play a key role in consolidating Crisis Action’s relationship with partners, ensuring that Crisis Action is providing them with excellent support and advice and undertaking outreach to new members.
