About the USAID-Funded Agriculture and Rural Empowerment (ARE) Activity in Lebanon:

The USAID-funded Lebanon Agriculture and Rural Empowerment (ARE) Activity, implemented by Chemonics International, aims to develop rural economies in Lebanon through support to the agri-food sector and other industries to unlock local and export sales potential while also creating jobs and increasing farmers' and workers' incomes.

The USAID-funded Agriculture and Rural Empowerment (ARE) Activity is seeking expressions of interest from Lebanese agri-businesses (fresh produce and processed-foods) for “Facilitating Access to New Markets for Lebanese Agri-Food Processors”. This intervention will support Lebanese agri-food firms access new export markets (ARE Objective 1) through the provision of directed Technical Assistance that aims to improve the productivity of beneficiary firms (ARE Objective 3). ARE will identify and assess four to six Agri-firms that are facing export-related difficulties due to the recent challenges that Lebanon is facing and will help address them. Then ARE will help these firms access new export markets and will identify gaps where experts in food processing, product development and packaging will be engaged to advance export activities.
