Objective of the Role:

The Communications and Media Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, managing media relations, and creating compelling content across various platforms. This position requires a creative and strategic communicator with a passion for storytelling and the ability to engage diverse audiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

             Communication Strategy:

    • Develop and implement communication strategies that align with organizational goals.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding.

Content Creation:

    • Create compelling content for various platforms, including press releases, articles, blog posts, and social media.
    • Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure a consistent flow of information.

Social Media Management:

    • Manage content for social media platforms to enhance engagement.
    • Monitor social media trends and implement strategies to increase the organization's online presence.
    • Respond to comments, messages, and mentions on social media channels.

Website Maintenance:

    • Update and maintain the organization's website with current and relevant content.
    • Ensure the website reflects the organization's branding and messaging.

Event Promotion:

    • Coordinate the promotion of organizational events through various communication channels.
    • Capture and share event highlights through photos and live updates.

Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Monitor media coverage and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies.
    • Prepare regular reports on communication activities and their impact.

Competencies and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in communications and media relations, preferably within the nonprofit or NGO sector.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Proficiency in social media management and content creation.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
