Call for Marketing Expert- SEC- Food System- Challenge

Context & Background

The Food System Challenge Program, funded by WFP and implemented by Berytech, is currently supporting 30 SMEs operating in the food and agri-food processing sector to develop their business and grow as entities able to support the Lebanese food security and respond market’s needs.

For that purpose, Berytech is seeking to hire consultants that will be able to support Social Enterprise Cluster (SEC) in developing a go-to-market strategy as per the scope of the interventions mentioned below. Social Enterprise Cluster is a food social enterprise (M Social Catering) specialized in cooking and distributing food such as healthy snacks and vacuum meals to schools, NGOs, and elderly centers.  

Scope of work and Deliverables

The Consultant is expected to fulfill the following in addition to any other task required:

  1. Market Analysis and Target Audience Identification:
    • Conduct a targeted market analysis to understand the needs, preferences, and consumption patterns of vulnerable communities.
    • Identify existing market players, gaps, and eligibility criteria for school feeding programs.
    • Focus on aligning snack offerings with WFP and donor standards.
  2. Product Selection:
    • Collaborate with M Social Catering (MSC) to ideate and develop a healthy snack tailored to the identified market.
    • Ensure nutritional compliance, alignment with local tastes, and cost-effectiveness in production.
  3. Branding and Communication Strategy:
    • Support in designing compelling branding for the snack.

Deliverables:

  1. Market Analysis and Target Audience Report:
    • A comprehensive report summarizing the findings of the market analysis related to the vulnerable communities and alignment with new school feeding programs and donors standards, namely WFP.
  2. Production Selection:
    • Report summarizing the findings of the study made reflecting the selection of a new snack and the tools recommended to help MSC choose the product ensuring nutritional compliance, alignment with local tastes, and cost-effectiveness in production.
  3. Branding and Communication Strategy:
    • Design creation for the new snack package, brand, logo,….

The consultant will provide these deliverables within the specified intervention period after working closely with the company to support and market analysis, new product selection and branding of the new snack under development..

As part of the program’s Monitoring and Evaluation (ME&L) processes, the consultant is required to:

  • Deliver a briefing report to the program’s team.
  • Attending check-ins short meetings, if needed and required by the program’s team
  • Attending MEL induction meeting before the beginning of the session if requested by the program’s team
  • Conducting pre-post assessment, feedback and attendance as requested by the program team

  Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, MSc Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field can be beneficial.
  • At least 15 years of experience in similar projects.
  • Excellent communications and report writing skills.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic

How to apply

The selected Consultant is expected to start his/her activities at the soonest after selection; the exact timeline and effective working days are to be set based on both the company’s and the Consultant’s availability, noting that the intervention would begin in 2024

Candidates should submit the following documents:

  • Technical (maximum two pages) describing the methodology to conduct the work based on the content suggested in section: “Scope of Work, Outputs, and Deliverables” elaborating it further.
  • Profile and project references (maximum two pages): A brief explanation of the consultant(s) background should be submitted (CVs shall be included as annex) along with project references on the topic.
  • Financial Proposal describing the expected renumeration and the proposed timeline and Days of intervention divided per deliverable as listed above.
