Basmeh & Zeitooneh is a registered Lebanese organization, committed to serving refugees and vulnerable communities in Lebanon, through four community centers across the country. The organization runs educational, relief, livelihoods, and protection programs, and aims to serve as an inclusive and supportive focal point for the entire community.

Job Purpose: To build the marketing capacity of a number of Micro and Small Business owners.

Major Activities : 

  1. to guide the target number of Micro & Small business owners in growing their brands through:
  • Field visits: through conducting a semi-structured assessment interview
  • Guiding mini-marketing strategy development with a number of businesses
  • Provision of branding education
  • Provision of marketing education

B - Lead on a customized template for small businesses that should simplify the marketing approach, as well as identify steps to be considered during the personalization process of the Business branding:

  • Check whether each brand identity clearly reflects the business and recommend updates where needed
  • Make sure the stores’ banners are visible and present the businesses’ brands accurately and clearly
  • Help the MSEs identify their target audience, value proposition, and competitive advantage, and develop their marketing strategies accordingly
  • Enable the businesses to understand the power of existing customers
  • Provide awareness about the usage of free promotional tools
  • Support businesses to own their online presence (if possible) I.e.:
  • Always ensure to have the presence active and consistent Help the businesses advertise online or offline (if possible):
    • How business owners should motivate people to try their business through discounts, coupons, or tasting/trial
    • Invest time in hopping on the social media engagement trends
    • Invest in local presence in events to spread awareness (exhibitions, events)
  • Coach business owners on gathering relevant data (if possible):
    • Capturing web prospects' information.
    • getting acquainted with exciting and new customers and saving their contacts to send them offers and new items trials.
  • Lean into word of mouth as a promotion channel.
  • Advise to use testimonials as content on social media 
  • Advise to partner up with delivery companies to boost the sales through their channels and logistics depending on the nature of the service, for example, Toters.
  • Seek relevant free online education opportunities about small business marketing and link it to business owners

C – Work closely with B&Z’s communication department to coordinate and support the collection of success stories related to the targeted MSEs.

  • Reporting in Case of any violation in Safeguarding Policy

Reporting :

The Marketing officer will report directly to the project manager and technically (technical relevancies of communication department) to the communication manager.  

Key Performance Indicators :

  • Working within the principles of the Code of Conduct.
  • Ensuring that beneficiaries have access to the appropriate agreed-on service.
  • Ensuring that the Foundation’s team interacts with beneficiaries within the principles of the B&Z, especially preserving dignity and avoiding psychological harm.
  • Achieving the required number of beneficiaries at the end of the program while ensuring the quality of work.
  • Ensure that a safe environment is provided for the staff in the training.

Education & Experience :

  • University degree in a related field
  • 3 years of job experience relevant to the function, in a comparable environment with non-governmental organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience in delivering marketing coaching according to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with administration and documentation.
  • Knowledge of English written and spoken.
