Job Purpose: The Livelihood Project Manager will report to the Emergency Operations Manager and key functions including Grants Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Finance, and Logistics. He\she will ensure coordination with external stakeholders such as Municipalities, and relevant members of the community. It also includes working closely with relevant government entities at the national, regional, and local levels.

Duties and Responsabilities: 

Major Activities:

Mission 1: Identification of 35 MSMEs and Need assessment

The manager will contribute to the identification and final selection of 35 MSMEs affected by the economic situation following a set of criteria.

It included field visits and interviews with MSMEs owners and employers.

Once the 35 MSMEs are selected, a detailed need assessment will be prepared at 3 levels:

  • Rehabilitation
  • Equipment
  • Individual support – business management and marketing (needed Training).

At the end of this phase, 35 contracts (MOUs) stating the support provided will be drafted and signed by both parties.

Deliverables:

  • Short-list table of affected businesses
  • Comparative analysis of shortlisted businesses "Comparative Analysis of Supporting Small and Medium Enterprises for Enhancing Created Added Value in terms of the number of employees, turnover, balance sheet, etc.
  • Draft contracts (MOUs) with MSMEs owners

Mission 2: Supervision

The Project manager will be in charge of:

  • Monitoring the execution of the works in all 35 locations, and organizing frequent visits to the selected MSMEs
  • Ensuring that equipment and consumables match the specifications
  • Preparing a detailed work plan and schedule and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Deliverables:

  • Field visit reports
  • Delivery receipts
  • Reporting and representation:

    The project manager will be in charge of reporting the activities on the different coordination tools developed by the donor or B&Z. He/she will represent B&Z in the working groups related to this sector.

    A final report will be submitted at the end of the assignment.

People Management:

  • Supervise and conduct orientation and necessary inductions for new team members as necessary and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Identify any gaps or capacity needs within the team and ensures training and capacity building is incorporated into program planning.
  • Promote accountability, communicate expectations, and provide constructive feedback informally and formally via regular one-on-ones and performance reviews.
  • Create and sustain a work environment of mutual respect where team members strive to achieve excellence and grow as individuals and as a team according to B&Z culture.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, economics, or project management.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the management of humanitarian projects
  • At least 3 years of experience working with communities on the small business grant, vocational skills, cash-based programming, and community-based credit schemes
  • Experience in emergency humanitarian contexts and complex and volatile contexts (preferable);
  • Experience in budget management, reporting, and donor relations;
  • Experience in managing staff, preferably through remote management;

Competencies:

Functional: 

  • Strong project management skills are compulsory, especially organizational and team management skills (including training & capacity building)
  • Computer proficiency in word processing, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

Behavioral:

  • Strong critical analysis and problem-solving skills;
  • Good Communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team
