AMURT’s mission is to help improve the quality of life for the poor and disadvantaged people of the world, and those affected by calamity and conflict. It aims to assist individuals and communities to secure life’s necessities and to gain greater social and economic fulfillment, while honoring individuals’ customs, language, and religious beliefs.
AMURT Lebanon registered in 2012 as an independent charitable organization and is affiliated with the AMURT Global Network, headquartered in Washington, USA.
Since 2012, AMURT has been addressing the Syrian crisis and its effects, as well as hardships the Lebanese community is experiencing. Its programs have ranged from disaster relief and emergency response, to psychosocial support, diverse education programs, child protection, social stability, and is currently focusing on the livelihoods sector.
Education and Psychosocial Support for Children at the Sunrise Center
Due to the deteriorating socioeconomic situation in Lebanon in addition to the coronavirus pandemic, over 500,000 children in Lebanon have been out of school for over a year. At our Sunrise Center in Jdeideh, Matn, AMURT in partnership with Kindernothilfe and Orienthelfer Germany is launching multiple cycles of Education and Psychosocial Support for children between the ages 5 and 12 years old.
Job Purpose:
With the support and supervision of the PSS Project Coordinator, the ECE Teacher holds responsibility of developing methods of teaching and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives and children’s needs. He/she facilitates learning by establishing an encouraging relationship with students and maintaining an inspiring classroom environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Developing, adapting, and teaching proposed curriculum in accordance with the needs and abilities of children in the classroom
- Organizing the classroom and learning resources, and offering creative displays to encourage a positive learning environment
- Organizing recreational and social activities for students including art activities and group work
- Motivating students with enthusiastic and imaginative presentation suitable for 5 to 8 years old and 9 to 12 years old children
- Monitoring the progress of a class including assessing and recording students' development
- Meeting with and providing feedback to the PSS Team and M&E Officer
- Following AMURT Lebanon’s Child Protection Policies and always acting in the child’s best interest
- Facilitating bus rides with children if urgently needed
- Attend weekly and monthly meetings with other team members
- Others as required and agreed upon with the PSS Project Coordinator
