Amel Association International (Amel) is a Lebanese and non-sectarian NGO created in 1979. Amel works through 27 centers, 6 mobile medical units, 2 mobile education units and 1 protection unit, and for more than 40 years has supported the poorest regions of Lebanon, from Beirut and its South Suburbs to Mount Lebanon, Bekaa and South Lebanon. Amel offers accessible services for all in the following fields: food security, health, education, protection, child protection, gender-based violence, livelihood, promotion and protection of human rights, rural development.
Amel is looking for one Referral Focal Point to support the implementation of the health project in the three Primary Health Care Centers of Bazourieh, Khiyam and Tyre. The full-time Referrals Focal Point will work in close coordination with the PHCC team, and more specifically with the social workers.will be responsible for ensuring appropriate response to the unmet health needs of persons of concern in South Lebanon, safeguarding their access to the needed services. She/ he will work from 8 am to 4 pm, from Monday to Friday.She/he will report to the project coordinator.
Tasks and duties:
- Act as a primary focal point for receiving individual health referrals for persons of concern from UNHCR, Amel and other partners.
- Channel the cases received through the appropriate specialized health services and provide feedback to the referring organization as needed on the referral outcome.
- Ensure close follow up on all managed cases, until access is ensured, to the extent feasible.
- Keep track of cases referred in a tracking sheet, that would allow relevant data extraction, and make sure it is regularly updated.
- Liaise with various stakeholders including POCs, PHCCs, hospitals, partners, NextCare and other relevant entities, as needed to ensure proper follow up on cases managed.
- Advocate with the relevant stakeholders to ensure access.
- Report to UNHCR Health FP and to Amel FP on any issues to address the health and protection needs of refugees
- Report to Amel on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Ensure knowledge and understanding of the relevant referral pathways and SOPs.
- Report non-conformities identified in the provision of health services at PHCs or hospitals.
- Ensure confidentiality of the medical information of POCs.
- Report on weekly basis on the relevant activities, including figures of cases managed.
- Participate in regular meeting with Amel health team, and other organizations
- Conduct field visits to the PHCCs of Bazourieh, Tyre and Khiyam.
