Al Midan is looking for an experienced Subject coordinator who is experienced in the field of education.
The Subject Coordinator will oversee the delivery of specific subject-related education programs, ensuring that they align with national and international standards. This role involves managing subject content, coordinating with educators, and ensuring effective implementation of the curriculum to meet the needs of the target population.
To address the growing needs of children and youth in Lebanon, AL Midan is implementing the Makani project, utilizing a Multi-Service Community Centre (MSCC) approach across 3 community centers in the North (T5 area). This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive package of integrated services targeting marginalized and vulnerable children and youth aged 0-18 years, as well as their caregivers. The MSCCs serve as safe spaces offering a variety of programs, including education, child protection, early childhood development (ECD), life skills, and youth engagement support, all through a community-based approach. The goal is to reach both Syrian and Lebanese vulnerable children in host communities, as well as collective and informal settlements.

Major Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development and Implementation:
- Lead the development, review, and adaptation of the curriculum for the assigned subject area (e.g., Mathematics, Science, Language, etc.), ensuring it is inclusive, relevant, and meets the educational standards.
- Ensure the curriculum is aligned with national standards and best practices in education while incorporating feedback from teachers and students.
- Support teachers in adapting the subject content to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those with disabilities, language barriers, or varying academic backgrounds.
- Teacher Support and Coordination:
- Provide guidance and support to teachers on effective instructional practices, subject-specific methodologies, and teaching strategies.
- Organize regular training sessions for teachers to improve their subject knowledge and teaching skills.
- Conduct classroom observations and offer constructive feedback to ensure effective delivery of the subject content.
- Foster a collaborative environment among teachers to share best practices and resources.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the subject program, tracking student performance and learning outcomes.
- Collect and analyze data on student achievement and engagement in the subject area, identifying areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular progress reports on the subject program, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
- Student Support and Engagement:
- Develop strategies to increase student engagement and motivation in the subject area.
- Ensure that teaching materials and learning strategies are inclusive and accessible for all students, including those from marginalized communities.
- Offer academic support to students who are struggling with the subject matter, including organizing additional tutoring sessions or remedial activities.
- Resource Management:
- Ensure that adequate teaching resources, materials, and equipment are available for the effective delivery of the subject program.
- Oversee the preparation and distribution of subject-related educational materials (e.g., textbooks, worksheets, visual aids).
- Collaborate with other Subject Coordinators and the education team to create and maintain a library of resources and tools.
- Collaboration and Reporting:
- Work closely with other Subject Coordinators and the education team to ensure an integrated and cohesive educational program.
- Communicate regularly with the Program Manager or Academic Director to provide updates on the subject program and highlight any challenges or needs.
- Maintain clear documentation on all subject-related activities, including lesson plans, assessments, and progress reports.
- Professional Development:
- Stay informed about the latest trends, research, and best practices in subject-specific education and pedagogical approaches.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance personal subject expertise and teaching methodologies.
- Child Protection and Safeguarding:
- Ensure that all teaching practices and activities are conducted in line with child protection and safeguarding policies, ensuring a safe learning environment for all students.
- Address any child protection concerns in collaboration with relevant team members and external partners.
Professional Standards:

Job Requirements:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, or in a specific subject area (e.g., Mathematics, Science, English) from a recognized institution.
- A Master’s degree or certification in education is an advantage.
- At least 2 years of experience in teaching or educational program coordination, preferably in a non-profit or international development setting.
- Previous experience working with vulnerable populations, including refugees or marginalized communities, is a plus.
- Skills and Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of the subject area and curriculum development.
- Strong understanding of inclusive education and strategies to support diverse learning needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze student performance data and use it to inform teaching practices.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Arabic (spoken and written); fluency in English is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
