ACT for the Disappeared (ACT) is a Lebanese human rights organization established in 2011. ACT aims to clarify the fate and whereabouts of missing and disappeared persons in Lebanon and contribute to the national reconciliation process. ACT seeks to:

  • Address the rights and needs of the families of the missing and disappeared and empower them to participate in the search process.
  • Collect and preserve information on the fate and whereabouts of the missing and disappeared.
  • Contribute to enhancing the capacity of relevant stakeholders and civil society actors engaged in the search process.

 

 

SUPERVISION

The Executive Director works under the supervision of the Board of Directors and reports to them regularly.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and provide guidance to the staff
  • Ensure implementation and follow up of ACT’s projects
  • Ensure proper planning, budgeting and reporting of projects
  • Lead monitoring and evaluation
  • Ensure close cooperation with ACT’s partners
  • Lobby, advocate, network with all stakeholders
  • Oversee budgeting, finance, and reporting to donors
  • Represent ACT in conferences, seminars, workshops, and other public forums
  • Lead efforts on grant applications and other fundraising opportunities

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic and programmatic

•    Work with Board of Directors to develop new projects, strengthen and expand

projects and develop ACT’s strategy

 

Programme

•    Coordinate and follow up ACT's projects with Project Managers and partners

•    Overview program implementation and budget utilization, ensuring consistency with

donor agreements, with the Finance officer and Project Coordinator.

 

Human Resource Management

•    Day to day management of the office and staff

•    Regular staff meetings and internal communication

•    Develop ToRs for new positions as required

•    Prepare staff and consultant's contracts, using ACT's template

•    Follow up on staff NSSF and tax registration, in coordination with the Finance Officer.

•    Recruitment and selection of new staff members

•    Agreeing objectives with staff and providing annual reviews

 

Fundraising, Budgeting and Grants Management

•    Oversee the budget that includes different funders and scopes of work.

•    Develop annual and quarterly budget forecasting, align budget spending with

programmatic strategy, and execute within agreed-upon budget parameters

•    Prepare narrative reports for donors and financial reports in close collaboration with

the finance officer and project manager.

•    Maintain positive relationships with donors and organize meetings with potential donors to present Act's work

•    Identify new funding opportunities and draft proposals to donors.

 

Monitoring and Evaluation

•    Coordinate and facilitate monitoring and assessment of the projects

•    Developing appropriate M&E tools

 

Governance and Board Relations

•    Prepare quarterly management reports for the Board of Directors

•    Prepare documentation for annual general assembly meeting and meetings of the

Board of Directors

 

Networking and External Communication

•    Coordinate the communication strategy of ACT and follow up its implementation, in collaboration with the Communication Officer.

•    Represent ACT at seminars, conferences, meetings and other events.

•    Advocacy, networking and lobbying with stakeholders.
