SUPERVISION
The Communication Officer works under the supervision of the Executive Director and reports to her/him regularly.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ACT is looking for a creative and motivated Communication Officer to develop the communication strategy, make ACT more visible online and develop visual, audio-visual and printed material.
Communication strategy
- Develop a general communication strategy for the organization
- Develop specific strategies for each programme/project
- Develop a media strategy and press contacts.
- Develop and conduct communications trainings for staff and volunteers
Website and social media:
- Develop and maintain ACT's website and social media outlets, ensuring growth of audience and engagement.
- Request/review/publish the social media inputs from head office and field offices.
- Lead the organization’s PR and social media.
Dissemination and outreach:
- Write dynamic content (newsletters, leaflets, press releases, invitation letters…) maintaining the tone and overarching vision of ACT.
- Contribute to creating online content and managing most effective social media pages through writing stories highlighting ACT's activities, accomplishments and impact
- Coordinate and collaborate with project managers, coordinators, team-leaders and officers internally, as well as partners externally
Branding and design:
- Oversee communication and branding of ACT and the layout and design of publications.
- Design and produce visibility materials for a wide and varied audience in required language
- Create and maintain a high-quality photo gallery, as well as creating short videos to promote ACT's work and mission.
- Any other related duties as requested by the office
- Oversee the work of web developers, movie producers and other communication material.
KNOWLEDGED, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
- Education: Degree in English, graphic design,communications, marketing or related field; plus
- Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, advocacy and/or journalism, preferably with a global nonprofit or NGO, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent English and Arabic language writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with focus and experience in synthesizing complex content into essential, compelling messages for a range of mediums including one-pagers, reports, white papers, website, social media and press.
- Excellent skills in the development of mass communications materials such as leaflets, photography, and audio/video productions;
- Ability to produce, shoot, edit, short videos for internet use
- Excellent knowledge and use of social media
- High level of self-motivation, initiative, and creativity
- Proven experience in using Photoshop, Illustrator, Final Cut, Adobe Suite (or other alternative design software)
- Graphic design, photography and videography experience a plus
- Ability to manage competing priorities and thrive under tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectively in teams and cross-cultural settings
- Ability to prioritize workload, assume responsibility for work, and follow through to completion.
- Collaborative, flexible and solution-oriented.
