JOB TITLE: Digital Communications Officer

ABOUT ABAAD

ABAAD – Resource Centre for Gender Equality is a UN ECOSOC-accredited organization that aims to achieve gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region.

 

JOB PURPOSE:

 

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Media and Communication, the incumbent will be assisting with the development of ABAAD’s website, social media platforms, editorial and external communications content (newsletters, articles, features, news stories, web-articles, blogs) and other relevant outreach activities as required. This individual will help lead media work to support programmatic, policy and campaigning priorities, and organizational activities nationally, globally and regionally. The Digital Communications Officer’s work will play a central role in building awareness of and support for ABAAD and its priority issues on social media, and within legislatures, governments and United Nations entities. In addition, the individual will help develop content for external communications.

High-level English and Arabic editorial/writing skills are essential.

 

REPORTING LINES:

Post holder reports to:  Head of Media and Communication

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Content creation and planning of all online communication for ABAAD social platforms and website;

- Preparation of social media posts based on the communication plan, project events and released materials;

- maintaining and updating the Abaad website;

- Analysis of social media activities and monitoring key indicators on all Abaad available platforms;

-  Support in the design, development and implementation of project communication plans and tools;

- Support the proper visibility of ABAAD activities such as printed materials, short videos and documentaries, success stories, amongst others;

- Contribute in the organization of project events such as workshops, trainings, press conferences etc.;

- Ensure social media engagement, and coverage of various ABAAD events and activities, such as webinars, seminars, training, and workshops ;

- Undertake other reasonable tasks as delegated and/or directed by the management.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms and digital tools;
  • Good knowledge of website Content Management Systems;
  • Analytical skills and trends analysis;
  • Experience working on campaigning or for an I/NGOs is a plus;
  • Sensitivity to gender issues and gender equality in the region;
  • University degree in Marketing, Journalism, Media, Public Relations or related discipline;
  • Proven track record of working in a similar capacity with the private sector and/or I/ NGOs;
  • Exceptional writing skills in both Arabic and English languages (French is a plus);
  • Knowledge and skills in computer usage including word, excel, power point, and social media;
