JOB TITLE: Community Engagement Officer

LOCATION: Beirut based (30%) with frequent field work across Lebanon (70%).

 

ORGANIZATION PURPOSE:

ABAAD aims at achieving gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region. ABAAD has a proven record in working in addressing GBV in emergency settings.

 

JOB PURPOSE:

The Community Engagement Officer will be working under the Accountability and PSEA Unit during the implementation of the OCHA II project “GBV and humanitarian actors are supported in strengthening their PSEA capacities and in responding to GBV cases (for women, girls and other individuals at risk”.

The Community Engagement Officer will be responsible for identifying and mapping community members in the aims of ensuring the successful completion of the project deliverables as per the project requirement.

 

 

KEY RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders with the aim of organizing/mapping training sessions and FGD sessions with the affected populations.
  • Organize community engagement sessions, trainings, and discussions to ensure adequate achievement of the project’s objectives.
  • Contribute to activities’ implementation (Note taking, Data registration, Data entry).
  • Assist in the evaluation and reporting of activities throughout the project cycle.
  • Conducting field visits on regular basis for consultation, monitoring and follow-up purposes.
  • Support the AAP and PSEA Department in following up on the CFRM reporting channels.
  • To support on any other departmental (APP/PSEA unit) related tasks as assigned by the line supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A BA/BS in social sciences or other relevant fields
  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to human rights and gender equality
  • Knowledge of quality and accountability initiatives, codes of conduct, principles and standards commonly used in the aid sector
  • A Flexible pro-active attitude
  • Ability to work well as an individual and in a team
  • Ability to manage an unpredictable workload in a challenging environment
  • Ability to work across socio-cultural and religious contexts
  • A belief in ABAAD’s mission and vision
  • A respect for ABAAD Code of Conduct and its PSEA Policy
  • Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English. French is a plus
  • High Proficiency in Microsoft Office
