LAUNCHING VIDEO: CALL FOR A PRODUCTION GROUP OR COMPANY

Project Background

The “Identify, Interpret, and Respond” (IIR) project, a partnership between the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), ABAAD – Resource Centre for Gender Equality, and the Lebanese Union for People with Physical Disabilities (LUPD), supports Lebanese civil society’s ability to jointly advocate for meaningful political participation and prevent identity-based political discrimination and violence. The project addresses the intersectional needs of Lebanese individuals with multiple social identities — including gender, disability, sexual identity, HIV status, confession, refugee status… — by building on partnerships that amplify a diversity of voices.

One of the key outcomes of this project is the “Path Coalition,” which brings together around 30 Lebanese CSOs working with different populations and their intersecting identities.

Following a cycle of participatory workshops, the Path Coalition members developed a policy platform which provides different recommendations under the following key headlines:

  • Inclusive Governance
  • Inclusive Education
  • Employment
  • Political Rights

Overall Objective of Video/Documentary Launch

Originally, the developed policy platform was meant to have been introduced and circulated in a physical launching ceremony. However, given that the current situation in Lebanon has not provided the ideal conditions for such an event, the IIR project partners have decided that a good alternative for the launching would be an attention-grabbing video.

So, ABAAD, IFES, and LUPD are seeking a creative production company/group who can produce a catchy and interesting video whose key focus is launching the platform and briefly highlighting the intersectional coalition that developed it.

Specific Objective of the Video/Documentary

The project team has discussed two options:

  1. Develop one short video (of 3 to 5 minutes) to be shared on social media which manages to present the different points in a way that viewers will watch till the very end :)

or

  1. Develop one strong documentary of about 12 minutes which showcases the work of the different sub-coalitions, as well as a shortened version, similar to a trailer, to be shared on social media

The selected option will depend on the production group’s proposed idea and budget.

Production Group Scope of Work

The following scope of work is envisaged for successful completion of the assignment:

  • Production group to review different documents and materials shared by the IIR project team in order to better understand the policy platform, intersectionality, and the Path Coalition’s overall objectives. This would provide the necessary background to come up with ideas that represent the different organisations’ work.
  • Consult with the project team and communicate with sub-coalition members to get an idea of envisioned information to be shared.
  • Based on the obtained information, propose (in close consultation with the IIR project team) a structure for the documentary which would assist in developing a strong structure and storyboard.
  • Deliver a draft script and video outline for project team comments to be integrated.
  • Filming will take place at ABAAD and LUPD offices (depending on time needed, 1-2 days at each location).
  • Finalise the documentary film incorporating the comments arising from the presentation to the IIR project team.

Important note: The production group will be responsible for making own arrangements when it comes to logistics, equipment, personal protective equipment, transportation, communication services, and any other needed details.

Deliverables

The production company’s expected deliverables are:

  • Video outline(s), and storyboard, ensuring that the final product is creative and engaging.
  • All raw footage/rushes captured under the scope of the assignment.
  • Finalised, edited product(s): short video only, OR short video and documentary.
  • Video to be filmed in Arabic, and subtitled in English and in Arabic.

Important note: The final product should be accessible to persons with disability. In order to ensure that persons with hearing disability can access the content, Arabic subtitles are necessary. Sign language is also an option.
