The Sustainable Health Advocacy for Gay men or “SHAG” Consortium is devoted to creating more supportive legal and policy environments for gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men around the world. SHAG will focus on catalyzing movements to decriminalize same-sex relations and supporting rights-based programming tailored to the specific needs of gay men and other men who have sex with men. The SHAG Consortium has been formed in collaboration with MPact Global Action for Gay Men’s Health and Rights, Africagay Contre le Sida (AGCS) in Western and Central Africa, the Eurasian Coalition on Male Health (ECOM) in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, SOMOSGAY in Latin America, and M-Coalition in Middle East and North Africa (MENA) – with the support of the Robert Carr Fund (RCF).
the SHAG Consortium is currently launching a new global campaign entitled “#RightTo” dedicated to ensuring the rights and dignity of gay and bisexual men around the world. M-Coalition is the MENA partner responsible for implementing this activity in the region. The goal of this campaign is to advocate for the wellbeing and rights of Gay, Bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM) around the world.
The campaign started with a quantitative study implemented by each consortium member in their region to understand more the situation of MSM, and it is currently followed by a series of monthly calls between consortium members to discuss the implementation of the campaign.
