Who we are: https://thepublicsource.org/about [1]
Who you are: A third or fourth year journalism student with some experience (at least one year) in writing, editing, or reporting on news stories, OR a student pursuing a master's degree in journalism or media studies. Some of your traits include curiosity, drive, dedication to pursuing journalism in the public interest, and well-developed communication skills.
Description: Interns will support the work of the investigative unit at The Public Source, and work alongside its lead investigative journalist and the publication's editor‐in‐chief, by conducting research and interviews, fact-checking, attending press conferences, and transcribing interviews, among an array of other tasks. Our internships, just like our jobs, are tailored to each person's interests, skills, and capacity.
Language requirement: Great writing skills in either Arabic or English (fluency in both)
What's in it for you: You'll be doing meaningful and interesting work while developing your journalism skills in a laid back independent media organization. You'll learn how to pitch, develop story ideas, interview government officials, and file access to information requests. Ambitious interns can also start building their portfolio and have their byline on at least one story.
Time commitment: 3 months (15 hours or 2 days a week, one of which must be spent at our office in Beirut)
