Request for Proposal for Business Development Trainer

Introduction:

Tamadun Association invites candidates to submit a proposal for a business development trainer under a framework consultancy service contract for 24 days, aimed at building the capacity of 80 entrepreneurs working in Crafts, Arts and Sports sectors.

1. Background

Tamadun is a Lebanese non-profit organization established in 2017. It coordinates and networks with local associations and international organizations to meet real needs and strengthen vulnerable communities through basic assistance, protection, education, health, and livelihood sectors, maintaining the basic principles of humanitarianism, neutrality, impartiality, and independence.

Currently, Tamadun Association is implementing "Crafts, Arts and Sports Entrepreneurship Support (CASES) – Lebanese Cases Project in Saida office, a new initiative targeting South and Mount Lebanon, within the Middle East Field Support Services Project / Cowater International, and funded by Global Affairs Canada, as a response to the urgent needs of entrepreneurs, including youth, women and persons with disabilities, during the current difficult living, economic and security conditions of conflict, displacement and loss, to maintain their ability to sustain, enhance innovation, inclusiveness and sustainable livelihood opportunities, by supporting their small and start-up businesses in the crafts, arts and sports sectors.

2. Service Objective:

Tamadun is seeking a business development trainer(s) to deliver in-person training sessions designed to equip 80 entrepreneurs with essential business development skills (BDS).

3. Purpose:

For its project "Crafts, Arts and Sports Entrepreneurship Support (CASES) – Lebanese Cases Project. Tamadun Association is seeking to engage a qualified service provider(s) (business development trainer) to deliver 24 workshop sessions to 80 entrepreneurs. The training program will be conducted over four repeated training cycles (six sessions per cycle), each accommodating around 20 entrepreneurs from the arts, crafts, and sports sectors.

The training aims to equip entrepreneurs working in crafts, arts and sports sectors with essential skills to manage their small and start-up businesses effectively, improve financial sustainability, and access grant opportunities to enhance their business operations.

The specific objectives of providing the training program will include:

  1. Business Planning: Help entrepreneurs discover the key elements and stages of managing, and road-mapping for how to structure, run, and grow their businesses.
  2. Financial Literacy: Increase understanding of budgeting, savings, debt management, pricing, and costing.
  3. Business Modeling: Enable entrepreneurs to design and articulate a practical business model.
  4. Digital & Strategic Marketing: Equip entrepreneurs with tools to enhance their business outreach.
  5. Entrepreneurial Skills Development: Strengthen entrepreneurs’ ability to grow and sustain their businesses in competitive sectorial markets (crafts, arts or sports sectors).

4. Scope of the Services

The selected trainer/s will be responsible for:

4.1. Workshop Development and Delivery: Develop comprehensive training materials and presentations (in Arabic) and deliver four cycles of training workshops, ensuring the training sessions are delivered thoroughly and on time.

A candidate can develop and deliver part of or the entire curriculum covering the following titles:

  1. Planning for SMEs’ Establishment (1 day/workshop)
  2. Financial Management (1 day/workshop)
  3. Digital Marketing (1 day/workshop)
  4. Business Model Canvas (1 day/workshop)
  5. Tools & Techniques for Enhancing Entrepreneurial Capabilities - Sector-Specific (2 days/workshops).

4.2. Workshop Assessment: Implement both pre-tests and post-tests for entrepreneurs and an evaluation for each session (in Arabic).

4.3. Workshop Reports A summary report for each workshop (in English), including participants’ evaluation, feedback, and recommendations along with pre-post-tests results.

4.4. Final Report: Upon completion of the trainings, submit a consolidated final report (in English) summarizing the outcomes of the capacity-building interventions, including recommendations for further support.

  • Tools and Resources: Develop practical tools and templates to support entrepreneurs in applying the concepts learned during the workshops.
  • The trainer responsible for delivering the business modeling training will help the entrepreneurs to develop and check their Business Model Canvas to be submitted by each entrepreneur.

 

  • Timeframe:

The selected trainer(s) must be ready to start services immediately upon contract signing. The consultancy will be conducted between April and May 2025.

The specific training dates will be confirmed in coordination with Tamadun Association upon contract signature.

  • Training locations:

The consultancy will be delivered through four training cycles as follows:

  • One training cycle in Chouf (6 days for one group)
  • Two training cycles in Saida (12 days for two groups)
  • One training cycle in Hasbaya (6 days for one group)

Tamadun Association will ensure the logistical arrangements for smooth training delivery, including accessibility for persons with disability,

  • Reporting

The consultant will report to Tamadun Project Manager.

 

5. Qualification Requirements

The consultant should meet the following criteria:

  • A Master’s degree in Project Management, Finance, Socio-economic Development, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven expertise working with NGOs in financial literacy training, BDS, marketing, entrepreneurship training…
  • Experience working with entrepreneurs or business development programs in the sectors of crafts, arts and sports is highly desirable.
  • Strong facilitation skills and the ability to deliver interactive, practical training sessions.
  • Expertise in donor regulations and compliance requirements related to entrepreneurship support projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
