Duration: 3 months – 48h/month
Department Background:
International Medical Corps is committed to delivering programming that is safe, accountable, and inclusive in order to address the inherent inequities of power that can exist in humanitarian settings, by putting the people affected by crisis at the center of assistance and ensuring there are systems in place to elevate the needs of people and communities affected by crises. Our approach also considers that within the affected population, there are marginalized groups—women, adolescent girls, older people, those living with disability, and others—who face greater risk, who encounter additional barriers to access assistance, and whose voices are not heard.
The Accountable and Inclusive Programming Approach ensures that affected populations can access essential assistance and information, remain safe while doing so, have their diverse needs met, and are empowered to provide feedback on the programs and their rights. By integrating safeguarding, protection mainstreaming, and accountability to affected populations (AAP), International Medical Corps strives to promote equity, non-discrimination, and humanitarian principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, and independence in all its interactions. Building trust with communities is central to our mission, ensuring that humanitarian efforts respect the dignity of those served while minimizing any potential harm.
Under AAP, there are Community-Based Feedback and Response Mechanisms (CBFRM) to provide all groups within the communities we serve with safe, accessible, and preferred ways to submit feedback or complaints and get them addressed. Different mechanisms may be needed so that communities can safely raise sensitive complaints, in addition to feedback and non-sensitive complaints.
