As part of LUPD’s ongoing projects, we have provided vocational training to several beneficiaries. A number of these beneficiaries have expressed interest in starting their own small businesses and enhancing their business acumen. This TOR is designed to outline the scope of work for a Business Skills Trainer who will assist in equipping our beneficiaries with the necessary knowledge and skills to establish and manage successful businesses.

II. Objectives
The main objective of this consultancy is to deliver business skills training to LUPD beneficiaries, enabling them to:

  1. Develop a comprehensive understanding of core business concepts.
  2. Acquire practical knowledge on how to establish and sustain a small business.
  3. Understand basic financial management, marketing strategies, and customer relations.
  4. Gain confidence and skills to launch their small businesses.
  5. Guide participants in the creation of a comprehensive feasibility study, ensuring sound business planning.

III. Scope of Work
The Business Skills Trainer will be responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Needs Assessment: Conduct a brief needs assessment within the project to identify the specific training needs and level of knowledge.
  2. Curriculum Development: Develop a comprehensive, accessible, and practical business skills training curriculum that addresses the following key topics:
    • Business planning and strategic development.
    • Financial management (budgeting, costing, pricing, cash flow).
    • Effective marketing and branding for small businesses.
    • Customer service and relationship management.
    • Legal considerations for starting a business (licenses, regulations).
    • Operations and supply chain management.
  3. Training Delivery: Deliver training sessions in a clear, inclusive, and engaging manner, ensuring all participants are able to follow along and benefit from the content. Sessions should be designed with accessibility and inclusivity in mind.
  4. Post-Training Support: Provide one-time individual consultation for beneficiaries who wish to start or scale their businesses.
  5. Monitoring and Evaluation: Assist LUPD in monitoring the progress of the beneficiaries and evaluate the effectiveness of the training, making any necessary adjustments to improve the curriculum.

IV. Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate for this position should meet the following criteria:

  1. Education: A degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, or a related field.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business consultancy, entrepreneurship training, or business development, preferably with experience working with groups of persons with disabilities.
  3. Skills:
    • Proven expertise in designing and delivering business skills training programs.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver content clearly and effectively.
    • Problem solving and planning skills
    • Knowledge of the Lebanese market and small business dynamics.
    • Experience in providing mentorship and post-training support is an added value.
  4. Languages: Fluency in Arabic and proficiency in English (spoken and written).

V. Deliverables
The Business Skills Trainer is expected to deliver the following:

  1. A tailored training curriculum and materials, including any necessary handouts or visual aids.
  2. Conduct a series of training sessions (5 days based on the project scope).
  3. A report on the training outcomes, including an evaluation of the participants’ progress and feedback.
  4. Post-training support for beneficiaries, including one-on-one consultation if needed.

VI. Reporting
The Business Skills Trainer will report directly to the project manager and will liaise regularly with LUPD’s staff to ensure the training is aligned with organizational goals and needs. Regular updates on progress, challenges, and any adjustments needed will be required.

IX. Budget and Payment
