Invitation to Bid - Hand Made Accessories Trainer for Cash for Work Project - TOR Ref#012

1. Description

The project comprises three types of cash for work activities targeting 900 workers: food production activities, including the production and distribution of daily meals and preserves baskets to 500 vulnerable families in targeted neighborhoods; agricultural activities including urban farming, small-scale farming; and crafts activities.  Food production activities and Agriculture will run for 5 cycles, while the craft activities will run for 4 cycles.  Each cycle will start with a period of training, part of which will be technical, and will differ from one sub-activity to another, and part of which will be cross-cutting across all sub-activities, over two days. The latter part will include onboarding training on PSEA, code of conduct, non-violent communication, work ethics and well-being. Once training is complete, the workers will move on to the production phase.

Objective:

The primary objective of the training is to provide participants with the necessary skills to design, produce, and market handmade accessories, including but not limited to:

  • Rings, earrings, bangles, and necklaces.
  • Selection and sourcing of quality materials.
  • Basic and advanced jewelry-making techniques.
  • Design trends and innovation in accessories.
  • Quality control and finishing techniques.

Scope of work:

The trainer will be responsible for:

  • Delivering 33 days of practical, hands-on training sessions on handmade accessory production.
  • Introducing innovative and creative design techniques.
  • Guiding participants in material selection and cost-effective production methods.
  • Providing mentorship and constructive feedback on participants’ work.
  • Conducting assessments to evaluate learning outcomes.

Deliverables:

  • Training materials, including guides and worksheets.
  • A final training report, including participant evaluations and recommendations.
  • A showcase of participants completed handmade accessories.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal trainer should have:

  • Proven experience in handmade accessory design and production.
  • Previous experience in training, coaching, or mentoring in artisanal skills.
  • Knowledge of market trends and business development in the handicraft sector.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to adapt training to different skill levels.
  • Experience in working with NGOs or community development projects is a plus.
