Call for Community Engagement Volunteer (North & Akkar)

The Alawite Islamic Charity Association (AICA) is seeking eight (8) Community Engagement Volunteers (CEVs) to support the implementation of the OCHA-funded CBPF-LHF project in four community centers across North Lebanon and Akkar.

The CEVs will engage with local communities, organize structured walk-in activities, mobilize caregivers, and contribute to reducing student dropout rates. They will work closely with children, caregivers, and educators, ensuring alignment with OCHA’s Localization Strategy, humanitarian child protection, and education principles.

This role is ideal for candidates with strong communication, community outreach, and facilitation skills, committed to inclusive education and child protection.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement & Outreach:

  • Identify and monitor at-risk students and support their retention.
  • Coordinate with caregivers, school directors, and community members to ensure consistent participation.
  • Conduct awareness-raising activities on education and child protection.

Walk-in Activity Facilitation:

  • Organize and facilitate structured walk-in activities (e.g., arts, storytelling, recreational games) for children aged 6–12.
  • Ensure all activities align with the walk-in curriculum and community needs.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive environment following AICA’s child protection policies.
  • Child Protection & Well-Being Awareness Sessions:
  • Deliver monthly awareness sessions on bullying prevention, online safety, personal safety, and Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA).
  • Promote inclusivity and safeguarding in all activities.

Reporting & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, student engagement, and feedback.
  • Submit regular reports to the Center Coordinator and Project Manager.
  • Identify challenges and recommend data-driven solutions to improve student retention and community outreach.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Education: High school diploma required; training in community development, social work, or education is an advantage.
  2. Experience: Prior experience in community engagement, outreach, education, or volunteering preferred.
  3. Technical Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Basic IT proficiency is preferred.
  4. Compliance: Must adhere to AICA’s Safeguarding & GBV Prevention Policies, and OCHA’s AAP Framework.
  5. Languages: Fluency in Arabic is required; English or French is a plus.
  6. Ethical Standards: Preference for community members from Sahel Akkar, Deir Amar, Mohajreen, and Mina.

Compensation & Contract Details:

  • Salary: $250 per month (subject to 8.5% Non-Residential Tax deduction as per Lebanese labor law).
  • Work Schedule: 4 hours/day, 3 days/week, over 44 weeks (11 months).
  • Contract Type: Consultancy-based service provider agreement (no employer-employee relationship).
