Association des Jeunes Islamiques (ADJI) is a leading non-profit rehabilitation center in Lebanon. Established in 1997, the organization is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered rehabilitation services—including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and psychosocial support—to vulnerable individuals such as persons with disabilities (PwDs), children with disabilities (CwDs), and elderly individuals.

As part of its commitment to integrity and ethical conduct,   ADJI enforces a zero-tolerance policy on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) and requires all staff to adhere to the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) Code of Conduct.

 ADJI is currently implementing a Comprehensive Rehabilitation, Secondary Healthcare, and Protection Services Project in North Lebanon, delivering services through its central rehabilitation center in Tripoli as well as through mobile and home-based care initiatives.

Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist will provide specialized rehabilitation services aimed at improving the functional independence and quality of life of vulnerable individuals in North Lebanon. This role involves assessing patients’ abilities in performing daily living tasks, designing individualized treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions that enhance cognitive, motor, and adaptive skills.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Occupational Therapist will collaborate with physiotherapists, speech therapists, social workers, and other specialists to deliver holistic care to persons with disabilities, children with disabilities, and elderly populations.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Rehabilitation Services

Assess patients’ functional abilities, including motor skills, cognitive functions, and activities of daily living.

Develop individualized treatment plans that focus on improving daily functioning and overall independence.

Deliver occupational therapy sessions employing evidence-based techniques to address fine motor skills, self-care, and adaptive strategies.

Collaborate with other rehabilitation professionals (physiotherapists, speech therapists, etc.) to ensure an integrated approach to patient care.

Train caregivers on strategies and exercises to support patients’ progress at home.

Recommend and advise on the use of assistive devices and home modifications to facilitate independent living.

Patient & Caregiver Education

Provide guidance on self-management strategies and the proper use of adaptive equipment.

Conduct awareness sessions for caregivers to reinforce therapeutic techniques and support patient independence.

Data Collection & Reporting

Maintain comprehensive patient records documenting assessments, treatment plans, and progress.

Contribute to project reporting, monitoring, and evaluation (M&E) activities.

Participate in Functional Independence Evaluations (FIEs) to measure treatment outcomes.

Collaboration & Coordination

Work closely with rehabilitation center staff, social workers, and medical teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Refer patients for secondary healthcare interventions when needed.

Support community mobilizers in the identification and assessment of beneficiaries.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.

Minimum 2-3 years of experience in occupational therapy, preferably within humanitarian or healthcare settings.

Experience working with persons with disabilities (PwDs), children with disabilities (CwDs), and elderly populations.

Proficiency in patient assessment, therapy planning, and implementation of occupational therapy interventions.

Fluency in Arabic; knowledge of English and/or French.

Competencies & Skills

Empathy and patience when working with vulnerable populations.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage patients, caregivers, and team members.

Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment.

Flexibility and adaptability to work in mobile or home-based settings.

Excellent organizational and reporting skills to track patient progress and support project monitoring.
