Al Midan NGO is seeking to recruit a “Community care worker” for Makani Project in the North.
To address the growing needs of children and youth in Lebanon, AL Midan is implementing the Makani project, utilizing a Multi-Service Community Centre (MSCC) approach across 3 community centers in the North (T5 area). This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive package of integrated services targeting marginalized and vulnerable children and youth aged 0-18 years, as well as their caregivers. The MSCCs serve as safe spaces offering a variety of programs, including education, child protection, early childhood development (ECD), life skills, and youth engagement support, all through a community-based approach. The goal is to reach both Syrian and Lebanese vulnerable children in host communities, as well as collective and informal settlements.
Al Midan NGO has a zero tolerance to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of beneficiaries. Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct, that enshrines principles of PSEA, always (both during work hours and outside work hours). Familiarization with, and adherence to, the Code of Conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.

Major Responsibilities:
Community Engagement and outreach:
● Facilitation in mapping community needs (Households Needs and Situation Assessment)/regular mapping of existing needs and services/ facilitation of FGD sessions in the community
● Outreach - building rapport through supportive and trusting relationships with children, families, and leaders within the local community (within MAKANI this will be linked to QUDWA as well)
● Monitoring of local protection risks and ensuring referral of most vulnerable children facing protection concerns within the community to more specialized Child Protection services (within MAKANI centers it will be linked to safe identification and referrals to response services)
● Accompanying children and families to services when needed
● Support to caregivers and members of the extended network around positive parenting practices
● Act as a focal point within a community (and within MAKANI) – a place for children and parents to safely report cases of abuse, a place to seek help, a group to provide response and rehabilitation support, and a place to identify needs.
Health and Nutrition interventions and tasks:
● Organize and deliver awareness sessions to parents and caregivers on nutrition and health topics bi-weekly at the center
● Coordinate with existing PHCs in the area and link the community to the PHCs and raise awareness on the services provided
● Ensure referral of mothers with maternal health challenges to the PHCs and to IYCF specialists to receive the necessary help
● Refer women with breastfeeding difficulties and in need of IYCF counseling to Lactation Specialists
● Refer Children aged between 6 months and 59 months to Nutrition partners to receive micronutrient supplements for the vulnerable children 6-59 months, through outreach at the community level
● Organize awareness sessions, one session per week for children aged 6-18 years in the MSCC on the following topics Healthy wellbeing, Healthy diets, obesity and physical activity and immunization
● Coordination with active organizations in the area to conduct workshop, interactive session on topics
● Coordinate with youth facilitator to conduct youth led initiatives in the centers
Professional Standards:
All Al Midan staff are required to adhere to the Al Midan policies and practices with respect to child protection minimum standards, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
Job Requirements:
- The community care worker should have a degree in the field of social work, sociology, or Health
- Have some relevant experience in dealing with children (profiles such as teachers or primary health care workers) or in working in the area of child protection specifically.
- The Community Care worker must have good public speaking and communication skills and be familiar with the targeted areas, including the local community, population habits and behaviors, public and private stakeholders, focal points or local leaders within the community, concentration of vulnerable population in specific areas.
- The Community Care Workers will be supported through a package of training that at a minimum includes Child Protection minimum standards and safe identification and referrals, Health and Nutritionand QUDWA.
- Fluent in spoken and written French, English and Arabic.
